3.1 has all kinds of new treats: support for CSS Animations, CSS WebFonts, and HTML 5’s video and audio tags

well, i only say that because even with the IE8 beta, i'm getting the SAME stupid rendering that i got in 6 and 7...at least safari is having DIFFERENT issues instead of spanning the same problem against 5 years worth of development

^If your code is standards compliant, you wouldnt be having problems. <3 IE8 for that.

while safari for Windows may suck, it's really slick on Mac.
But when it came out a lot of the speculation was that it was really just a platform to get webmasters a way to write and test pages for the iPhone, which uses a mobile version of Safari. So now people can create webpages on a PC and test them with Windows Safari to make sure they will work fine on iPhone

Awesome, first Quicktime, now Safari.

It's now a hat trick of shitty Mac software on PCs.

Look, shitface, I dont care if your code is w8c compliant, there's no need for stupid internets reponses like this.

I refuse to even install IE8 until IT makes me, but from all (yes all) I've read about it, the two huge impacts of IE8 is standards compliance and reduced footprint.

Having developed for damn near 10 years, just because your shit passes the w3c validator, doesnt even come close to meaning its compliant code. It's a good start, but seriously

also:

dunno what kind of netherworld you live in (IE: apple), but Safari eats a shit ton more resrouces on my machine, same for firefox. IE isnt any better, but I can say without any reservations that IE7 loads faster across the board thab FF2.x or Safari 1.3

actually, dumbass, if you'd stop and think for a moment, you'd realize YOU automatically stated that my code wasn't compliant (without asking) instead of assuming that IE8 might NOT be quite as perfect as you think it is...i realize that, with you being in seattle and all, your head is probably so far up gates ass that you can taste what he had for breakfast, but IE8 is NOT perfect (as you seem to think it is) and i've got damn near as many years as YOU do programming basic web shit

i might not be able to write web apps while crapping on the toilet, and everyone else might think you're god's gift to tech talk, but before you go running your mouth, DO realize that there are people in this world (maybe even people in TT ) who are just as capable (perhaps even more, though i suppose if you thought of this, your head might explode) of writing basic, compliant code

go fuck yourself, you self-involved, egotistical, cock-sucking...NERD.

Compliant code is awesome.

Until you actually want to display it in a web browser.

the whole # and _ ie hacks kind of break in IE8

guess it's time to go the <!--[if lt IE 8]> route

[Edited on March 22, 2008 at 12:46 PM. Reason : also, i think safari has the best looking pages, when you can get it to work]

^ haven't seen a browser display them better than safari does in os x. it's small details, but they make a difference when you build them.

^^ i like the rss reader (combining all my feeds into a folder -> one click on the bookmarks bar to combine them all on the same page, etc) but i kinna like just using Mail to do my rss since i leave it open and updating all the time...

with all the complaints against safari... i'm fairly sure they about have to be problems on the windows side; think i'll install it and see what all the hooplah's about

not sure about windows but Safari is by far the best browser on the Mac. Its the fastest loading and easiest to develop on. Everything just works the way its suppose to on Safari. You guys just hate on it because its apple. oh well.
