Curious if anyone on here has, or knows someone, that recently bought a brand new off the showroom floor R1. Trying to get an idea of what these things are actually selling for. I am looking at buying a new one and want to go in there with some sort of knowledge about invoices, and what others are walking out the door with. Thanks

well man, since it looks like no one else is helping ya out... I would just start by calling every dealer within the range your willing to drive, and get quotes... then have them beat each other.

cool, I talked to team powersports, salesguy said they have the 07 - 08's on sale for 10,500, msrp is 11,600. looking across the internet I am seeing most people are getting them right around 11k out the door.

any particular reason you'd go for a brand new r1 instead of 2-3 years old? or even a gsxr 1000? we're talking 2.5-4k difference

well I priced insurence on the R1... holy shit, ranged anywhere from $11k to $4k a year! thats with a perfect driving record, and 13 years driving experience! So I went to Matison today and ended up get a new 07 R6. It was actually more comfortable for me than the R1 and the insurence on the R6 is only $1100 a year. I have had a honda f4i and 929rr before this yamaha and I have to say I am very impressed with the R6. It feels so much more controllable than either honda, and the power on this 600 feels better than the 929 did and blows the F4i away. If any of ya'll are looking at a bike, go up to Matison, good guys up there and they will work with you.

headshakes... remember I am coming off a 929rr, notorious for headshake, that bike I can say I never really felt comfortable or in control of it.I didnt want a used R1, thats the only reason. I wanted a brand new bike. Yes I could have saved thousands of dollars and maybe got a better bike, or maybe got someone elses problems.oh and the slipper clutch, never rode bike with one before.. love that shit! downshift, dont have to blip the throttle and no rear tire bark or hop! (I'm still used to blipping but tried it today playing around without blipping and it is definately an awsome feature!)I am definately happy with the R6![Edited on March 22, 2008 at 1:52 PM. Reason : slipper clutch]

yeah, the slipper looks way nice. I wonder why more manufacturers don't adopt it.

I'd get an R6 for the stock slipper clutch too. After market ones are costly. I haven't looked at ones for my bike, but my friend said it'll cost 400-800.
