more specifically, the first cds you bought...do you still listen to those bands/that genre?

i was thinking about my favorites and how i first bought their cds around age 12ish...and they're still my favorite bands. it's kinda hard to believe that the music i picked as a 12 year old would be the music i'd stick with into adulthood. you'd think my tastes would have changed...

my 3 are tool (undertow), nin (the downward spiral), and foo fighters (self titled).

sorry if this has been done before, i searched, didn't find anything.

i remember attempting to purchase naughty by nature's 19 naughty III, and being turned down.

it was the first cd i tried to buy with a parental advisory sticker, and it rocked my world

of course i was 9.

I had other cds, but that was the first i remember purchasing (or attempting)

prlly b/c it left a mark.

also, im kinda happy that that, kriss kross, and salt n' peppa arent still my favorite bands.

The first CDs that i owned were Deftones - Adrenaline, Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Nirvana - Nevermind...i took the 2nd two from my dad though

-the deftones were my favorite band from 6th grade until I got into the stuff I listen to now while in HS, but I do not listen to them that often now

-Havent listened to Nevermind in a long time, but I can enjoy a song or two from it now and then

-Siamese Dream would be the one that stands the test of time and is still one of my favorite albums ever.

The first tape I ever bought was Pearl Jam - Ten and the first CD I bought was Aerosmtih - Big Ones. I have since drastically chanced what I listen to but back then I just listed to whatever MTV had on. Thank God for the internet.

Yeah, i still listen to it, though not on tape anymore.

First actual CD I bought was U2- War. Still love that CD, don't like much else that U2 has put out.

When I was 10, my mom got me a cd player for Christmas - as well as 2 Wynona Judd cds and a Shania Twain cd.

So... no I don't listen to those anymore. Or...ever....

I was all about some Wynonna Judd as a kid, too. Thank goodness I've also grown out of that.

haha my first CD was Weird Al Yankovic- The Food Album.

I think my first tape was Ace of Base or Dookie by Green Day. I'm not really sure. I don't think I bought Dookie though, I'm pretty sure I stole it from my sister

i bought dave matthews "under the table and dreaming" (and no, i don't still listen to that) and then not too long after that bought "mellon collie and the infinite sadness" (and i still listen to certain songs from that)

i was a little late to buying cd's for myself because my older brother bought good stuff already and sharing a room with him at the time, i listened to pretty much whatever he listened to.
