Nah...I'm just thinking of single-parent households, and situations like my parents': my mother makes roughly double what my dad does, because he's got such a problem with rejection that after his programming job with the state was cut, he took a retail job, and has stuck with it for years.

That wasn't paying the bills, so mom left school and works at cisco now.

Uh......what?

I know at least a government job will be equal pay. Men as a whole get paid more on average because we're more willing to take more stressful/dangerous/higher-paying jobs and we're more willing to negotiate a higher salary.

Across the board. But that's affected by the fact that women more often take jobs that make lower amounts of money, like teaching.

Most equivalent positions, like a female and male engineer, make very similar amounts of money.

when we got married, my wife made about 30% more than I did.
