loose dogs are NOT allowed in cary, and now we have this predicament... we found a dog and figure it's lost because it's got a collar (no tag) and it's really friendly. we've got a pitbull/great dane mix outside in the fenced in back yard and aren't really keen on bringing it inside with a shitzuuuuuu and a shitpoo puppy. (i know about my spelling)should we throw it out back, leave some food on the front porch and see if it's there in the morning, or leave a message for animal control and lock it in the bathroom over night??
3/13/2008 9:43:59 PM
ummm, dude. you don't have a lost dog. you have a found dog
3/13/2008 9:45:17 PM
hmmcan you leave it outside with your other dog and then make some calls tomorrow?
3/13/2008 9:45:45 PM
he's literally laying in front of the door right now. we could leave him out there, but we'd feel bad doing so.^ should we throw it in the fence?[Edited on March 13, 2008 at 9:46 PM. Reason : ^]

if it's someone's dog, they're looking for him. He could wonder back to his house.
3/13/2008 9:48:01 PM
if it's a small dog, it probably didnt run far
3/13/2008 9:50:04 PM
i don't know i'd bring him in for the night if he's just laying there. if he wanted to wander back he prob would of. if he has a collar maybe he's microchipped. don't give him to animal control. just take him, or let him wander. hopefully he'll wander back since he has a collar.
3/13/2008 9:52:27 PM
he's about the size of a lab, slightly bigger than our pit-mix. he's a sweet dog, but our dogs are a little protective. we'd let him in if need be, but we'd have to separate them all. does anyone know what time animal control operates? we'll be up early anyway.
3/13/2008 9:55:23 PM
go to the spca and have it scanned - they open lie 7-8am i think and are off tryon near south sanders
3/13/2008 9:59:35 PM
joie suggests we put penelope's dog tag on the lost dog until morning. if it's found while outside, they'll call us. and if it finds its way back to the owner...then they'll call us and we will explain our situation.what do you think???
3/13/2008 10:01:28 PM
i wouldn't do that - instead, maybe put a collar on it and tie it to the front porch with some food/water for the night
3/13/2008 10:02:23 PM
3/13/2008 10:06:16 PM
^ it's a little late for that tonight. that's why i'm asking. ^^ it might whine and bark all night. i wouldn't wake up, but neighbors might, and we're in a neighborhood where people might say something.[Edited on March 13, 2008 at 10:10 PM. Reason : ]

i think i'd take the dog if i didn't live in N. Raleigh...shit, I saw what I thought was a stray dog on the side of the road tonight, but I was "forbidden" to stopapparently it was a very large tom cat...my bf was like "dude! it just killed a bird...he'll be ok."i think my bf just wanted to get home
3/13/2008 10:11:04 PM
i guess we'll just leave food for it outside. joie is gonna make a homemade tag for it in case it's still here in the AM. we'll figure out what to do then i guess.
3/13/2008 10:12:44 PM
I miss my dog yall
3/13/2008 10:13:18 PM
Animal control doesn't open until mid-morning but if you call the number, the police dispatchers will get a message out to them.
3/13/2008 10:17:12 PM
^ good to know.we just put a temporary tag on it in the hopes that whomever finds it will call us instead of animal control.i'd rather the owner not get a fine if possible.
3/13/2008 10:20:24 PM

3/14/2008 7:04:51 AM
you should call the spca or animal control and see if anyone has reported a dog matching that description b/c that is definitely someone's companion. i would just leave him on your porch and just see what happens. perhaps he'll run home, perhaps he'll get picked up by the owners and they'll leave you a nice note, or he'll still be there when you get home.[Edited on March 14, 2008 at 7:12 AM.
