MAE 406 - H. ECKERLINMAE 408 - T. FANGISE 311 - BERNHARDAlso, has anyone every taken MAE 495M - Modern Manufacuting Process w/ J. TU , and can maybe tell me what it will be like and how hard or in depth the material is????How hard are these classes??? I'm just ready to get done so trying to get the easiest class/easiest teacher so that I can get at least a B or C in them and be done.Any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks in advance

311 is good, its gonna be back in the curriculum soon (as it used to be).408 is harder than you'd think, Fang gets pretty into the thermo of engines. If you were good in thermo 1 and 2, it won't be bad. If not... skip it442 is alot better this semester because Klang is teaching it by himself. Its extremely easy, but still interesting. For example, class is always full even though the quiz / hw schedule is known in advance.

idk about 408 being thermo intensive and the little thermo that was there was explained adequately enough in his notes and the book. that class was anything but hard.lots of tech elective discussion in these threadshttp://message_topic.aspx?topic=498434http://message_topic.aspx?topic=508453

Unless Tu has changed his ways, I'd jump on that 495m class in a heartbeat - all his old courses (315,316) are multiple choice. Eckerlin's class is ok, not much work, but boring as shit - 3hr block. And a lot of the test material is stuff he said verbally in class, not just the notes.ISE 311 - Not in my curriculum.Basically you if you just try you'll definitely get at least a C in them, more likely a B.

well I was implying that's something I've never taken, I kinda wish I knew that before my last semester since I was informed they were phasing it out of the old curriculum

Yeah, I didn't find out till my last semester either . . . our departmental advising def. leaves some to be desired.

I can only speak on 406 as for my other two ME electives I did 496 and 586 as independent design/research. The class isn't bad, just long and annoying at times. Write down every dang thing Eckerlin talks about because his homeworks/tests will have questions dealing with that. Most of the stuff is in the notes though. The first half of the semester is taught by Eckerlin (boilers, boilers, boiler) and the second half is with Terry (lighting, efficiency, motors, power generation) and everything will suddenly make sense. What ends up happening is the course is weighted more in Terry's favor and with your homeworks, because everyone ends up f'in up Eckerlin's half.

both 406 and 408 arent bad if you dont mind figuring stuff out on you own. fang's engrish is not the best and eckerlin is just flat out boring in 3hr sessions(terry isnt). neither class had many examples similar to HW/test.fang likes to repeat questions from test to test and the exam had alot of repeats. this is great since you get cheat sheets.i got an A in 408 and a B+ in 406 and did minimal work for each.

I thought 408 was pretty easy

ISE 311 is an absolute joke if you take it with Ayoubif you are good at memorizing then you'll be good at the classI have an A+ in there right now but, unfortunately, I haven't learned a damn thing
