How would an unsuccessful credit-only attempt look on your transcript if you take the course again for credit and do well (say you get an A or B)? I know it does not factor into your GPA but it still shows up.

i took mae 315 back in the day, hated the prof but couldnt drop the course (wouldnt have enough hours) so i went credit only and never went back, got a U

took it next semester with a different prof. and got an a-

never came up during job searches

It's not a problem at all, especially if your record is fairly good


most jobs/grad schools only care that you have the degree in hand, good gpa, top notch references.
