the warehouse district downtown is a really good spotif that doesnt work and you are looking for that old shed look, id say explore cary down the yates mill road area or even as close as Lake Wheeleri really like downtown in the warehouse area tho, its got a good feel and plentyyyy of options on the backsides by the tracks.

try a junkyard.most owners won't mind one bit...just talk to them first (in person)these gems came from a junkyard....[Edited on March 12, 2008 at 2:09 PM. Reason : i call them "gems" because, good sir, am very biased ]

dem gems came from genetics.

ive always wanted to take some on the top of a building in a downtown with the bands back to the city lights. maybe waist up so you dont see the parapet wall or railing, just the bodies and the cityscape.be creative though. there are too many generic band shoots out these days, just have fun. finding spaces with cool lighting gives them the most character imo.

3/12/2008 2:56:25 PM
^hahahaha^^not a band.a bunch of test shots me and poeple came up with.photography is an amazing creative outlet.amazing.im actually learning the fine arts of it now through a friend...but it may take a while.so for now we come up with ideas. he shoots. i get to play dress up.the coming up with ideas is the best part. i have so many now.but anywayi think it would be a cool band photo sitting in a cafeteria.like an old person cafeteria.with old people around you.and trays.
3/12/2008 2:56:46 PM
the first thing i thought of when i read the thread title was Faith +1...but it was too late

you can probably find a really large, open field down lake wheeler on ncsu property that might be sorta coolor, and here's a gem of an idea...try the train tunnel under tryon, immediately past the golf course
3/12/2008 3:22:29 PM
yea Joie that cafeteria idea sounds kinda funny actuallyid love to get involved in some photography like that too, it seems you have the idea down pati like that mirror/frame pic, its really odd tho, i cant tell if its a frame or a mirror or what...its just crazy lookini need to get some decent camera gear, the handheld fujifilm aint cuttin itthe junkyard is a good idea, old run down buildings are cliche but always goodWHAT GENRE IS THE BAND AND NAME OF THE BAND!!if youre saying we are off track, i gave you places for shedswhat other ideas you got Joietake me with youuuuu
3/12/2008 3:49:33 PM
I find your ideas fascinating Joie and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter
3/12/2008 8:07:48 PM
Back to the topic (or Bttt if you will)What kind of band is this? I think that has a pretty big bearing on the answers.
3/12/2008 8:25:45 PM
holy snappersa cafeteria is a great idea
3/13/2008 10:18:50 AM
This makes me want some K&W...
3/13/2008 5:15:45 PM
you could have the band in line at a k&w or cafeteria, with instruments laid out partially covered in ice on the salad bar. silly stuff like the drummer could have his drumsticks on his tray like they were his utensils, and you could have a serving bin full of microphones with the lead singer pointing at one, with a hairnetted old service lady pulling one out of the bin with tongs.
