^^^^realize that many crimes aren't even reported in those stats (just to mention one criminal genre, "white collar crime" which ironically can cause a much larger effect on many more people, think of all the enron, tyco scandals)

and those stats are also only useful if one is to assume that social and geographical inequalities have no factor in the committing of crime

One avenue of attempting to "prove," or at least show, that there is a continued injustice towards blacks in our legal system is through capital punishment stats (which are very useful as "black crime" is typically thought of by middle america as violent crime)

IMHO, I think that the civil rights movement has lost a lot of its hard-earned credibility by becoming stagnant with the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who only mimic MLK with their rhetoric and never amount to accomplishing anything greater.

The civil rights cause was not intended to boost up one race, it was however a movement to end all racism/class barriers/etc... across the board while unifying the country under one tolerant culture with Christian values.

Unfortunately, MLK was assassinated before the movement could have produced more progressive leaders. The young Jackson, Sharpton & Co. only knew what MLK did so they continued 1960's arguments/tactics over the next 40 years without truely adapting to present day/changing needs...

This is why the NAACP is a joke. Nobody with vision is at the helm and nobody is willing to do anything about it.

Yeah, from the UNC case - how do we know the killer is black? I know someone who stupidly tried to use her card was black. Possibly someone who didn't know they were using the card of a girl that was just murdered (or else they would stay away from cameras).

The suspect is black, we don't know who the murderer is yet.

who commits the crimes? is it always blacks? no its the poor.

so stop blaming blacks and start realising that its an economic issue, the poor in any society will have a good motive to steal, and that usually leads to violence

and why are blacks poor? we know why at first, then it was cause they just didnt know how to cope in a modern society, but now i think situations are alot better but there are stil ghettos and there will always be poor, and more than likely they will be black
