He will will his way all the way to the bench of an NBA team that wins a championship.

3/11/2008 12:31:37 PM

this thread is ripe with jealousy
3/11/2008 1:07:57 PM
in order to be a 'bust" people have to expect you to be good in the nba. nobody thinks he has the athleticism
3/11/2008 1:32:16 PM
3/11/2008 1:36:57 PM
why are we still talking about this?
3/11/2008 1:40:43 PM
When is the last time we retired someones jersey?

i think there's a specific requirement to get your jersey retired. Hansbrough has achieved it by winning TSN POY, so his number is automatically retired.
3/11/2008 2:25:34 PM
At Duke, UNC, and NC State... a player has to get National Player of the Year. (Well, we're not sure yet at State. I think that's an unwritten law... but it will probably be that way, and DT was)Up until this point, I thought that was AP Player of the year...guess not.Not sure that's a requirement at Wake. Did Duncan ever win POY?[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 2:40 PM. Reason : ]
3/11/2008 2:39:04 PM
yep
3/11/2008 2:47:55 PM
Retirement for TSN POY is gay.If he wins AP, which he probably will, then retire it.This is like hanging a banner for a helms national championship.
3/11/2008 2:59:55 PM
Why do so many of you care what UNC does as far as retiring their players jersey? If they want to retire it, then great, let them.
3/11/2008 3:06:31 PM
I can see how someone who doesn't know anything about college basketball could have that opinion.

the recognized NPOY awards for retirement are: the Oscar Robertson Trophy (selected by the United States Basketball Writers Association of America), the National Association of Basketball Coaches; the Associated Press; The Sporting News; the Naismith Award (presented by the Atlanta Tipoff Club); and the John R. Wooden Award (presented by the Los Angeles Athletic Club).
