Blu-Ray sucks ... oh wait, wrong thread

I am glad to see one standard finally win, and I'm glad it's the one that isn't an 18 letter acronym.

It's not on HDDVD.

I haven't heard any news of it being on BluRay either, but it's possible.

Just picked up Michael Clayton, Tears of the Sun.

And Hitman on blu ray for $12.

All at best buy.

two sales going on...

1) 30% off all HD DVD's
2) buy any 2 of selected titles (blu ray titles) and get a $20 gift card instantly.

the first two movies were part of the list...the only other movie that grabbed my attention was Assassination of Jessie James by blah blah blah...

Some others included Spider-man 3, Hostel, Hostel II, Rocky, and a few others.

I must say I'm impressed. Hitman came with 2 discs (probably because they couldn't fit it all on one disc *gasp*) but it came with a blu ray disc and a digital copy + serial number so you can download the movie to iTunes and have it on your ipod/iphone.

(the couldn't fit it on one disc was a joke for all you sony fan boys that get your panties in a bunch over this kind of low blow...yes i do realize that if it was all on one disc you wouldn't be able to put it on your computer without a blu ray drive )

how long do we think it'll be before burners are less than $100 and discs are $1/each?

I think it's going to be a looooong time (couple years, at least). Most people probably just don't see the need for that much storage. yet.

Cool stuff regarding the 4k transfer process used on Blade Runner's remastering, which so far has been the best picture i've seen in 1080p.

and i'll bet when affordable CD burners first went mainstream

you were all like

why would i buy a new cd-rom drive, and pay $2 every time i wanted to burn something to a disk when i could use a 10 cent floppy disk over and over again?

well...i, personally, would love to back up my entire core system (roughly 1tb) once a year...that's still 20 blu-ray discs and doesn't take care of my other 3tb, but the other 3tb don't concern me as much as my photography, videos, etc, so i already see a need and desire to have a burner and affordable discs

Kind of more of what we already knew before.

Microsoft will support Blu-Ray in their software, but not the Xbox 360:
