Anyone catch the season premier last night.pretty bad ass show about lumber jacks in the pacific north west.kinda the same format as deadliest catch and ice road truckers
3/10/2008 2:02:07 PM
i figured it was pretty much the replacement for ice road truckerssounds like due to the lakes being too warm and new laws banning cameras in trucks (or something) that show is in limbo
3/10/2008 2:04:39 PM
i was never a real fan of ice road truckers but this show was pretty bad asscant wait to watch again. they only have 3 months to harvest the timber fighting mother nature and very sketchy territory
3/10/2008 2:08:36 PM
I wish they went more into who buys the lumber/who owns the land/how far the full loads have to go, etc. I'm sure they will in the future. The driver that quit was funny-so was the guy with the gravelly voice.
3/10/2008 3:23:32 PM
have it DVR'd even though I watched the last 20 minutes after The Wire. Looked pretty good.Watching the trucks drive off reminded me of that brian reagan bit about the lumber trucks passing each other on the highway
3/10/2008 3:35:23 PM
yeah i've got it dvr'dgot sucked into "son of flubber" last night
3/10/2008 3:36:37 PM
I'm hooked on it now (no pun intended about the poor guy who lost his hand)! Those fuckers made a Sherman tank into a rig! That's a dangerous job. I used to know a girl whose father got killed logging in North Carolina--they say a log slid off a truck somehow and hit him right in the face.

Now are these guys harvesting a tree farm or just plowing through old growth habitat? Being a fan of Deadliest Catch I was curious about this show but didn't want to get pissed off if all it was were brawny men heave-hoeing through lush greenery bragging about how they fell a tree older than this country. >.<

Just watched the first episode last night. Very badass show. I already like it better than Deadliest Catch. Seems there is a lot more that can and will happen in this show than on the others.
3/12/2008 1:11:58 PM
Looked pretty cool. Helicopter guy had the right idea, although he might have trouble hiring another pilot after that mix-up with the tree.
3/12/2008 1:25:03 PM
i found this show to be unwatchable after listening to the host/voice over guy for 2 minutes. he's no mike rowe, that's for sure. plus i've just never gotten into any of THC's attempts to emulate deadliest catch

Shameless plug for my own History Channel thread:/message_topic.aspx?topic=518205[Edited on March 12, 2008 at 6:26 PM. Reason : .]

They probably did. That wouldn't make very good tv if they said "meh, if we can't break it loose we'll just drop it."
3/13/2008 10:30:19 AM
it should be called "ice road truckers in trees"
3/13/2008 11:35:15 PM
Didnt even realize this was on THC until someone mentioned it. Just assumed it was on Discovery.
3/13/2008 11:58:49 PM
Ice Rd Truckers sucked after the first two episodes. I mean, after a while you get tired of seeing that dumbass animation of the truck going through the ice and you want some real action. If this show goes anything like that one I'll be cancelling the DVR subscription asap.
3/14/2008 8:48:39 PM
Just more Discovery/TLC-ification of The History Channel. Soon it will be nothing but WWII, UFOs, and a bunch of slack-jawed yokels and their "awesome" blue collar jobs."Hey, how about a show about the Punic Wars?""Nah, we're rolling out a series about the exciting lives of HVAC technicians!"
3/14/2008 9:04:01 PM
^ Sad as it is, I can actually see them doing that. They could find a mummified dead cat in the crawl space or they pull out some duct work and start screaming "MOLD MOLD...MOVE!!!" and then go back in with biohazard suits on.[Edited on March 14, 2008 at 9:14 PM. Reason : l]

you had logs?
3/16/2008 4:50:59 AM
its on right now, pretty entertaining
3/16/2008 9:20:46 PM
I think the created the Military Channel for all the WWII stuff, so they can concentrate on the HVAC technicians
3/17/2008 7:03:48 AM
pretty good episodeole J.M Browning kicked ass w/ 64 loadssecond place came in at 13 loads
3/17/2008 8:35:49 AM
btttanyone catch this last nightive yet to watch it
4/21/2008 12:35:26 PM
yep, saw last nights. The characters and job don't hold the intrigue like Deadliest Catch and to some extent Ice Road Truckers. I guess there are too many people and they aren't able to build on 5 guys, instead they take 5 crews and then try to get us to remember that each one has this history and this personality, but it's just too many people to keep track of week to week. If they focused on the main guy on each site more it'd be better, but it's as if they were trying to follow each deck hand on all 5 boats on DC and let them have their own story, instead of the boats story...it wouldn't work well.
4/21/2008 1:57:36 PM
yeah, ive been watching it and it dont hold a candle to Deadliest Catch but i still enjoy watching it. just learning about what they do holds my interests. there is another fishing show that comes on Bio called Extreme Fishermen....it follows European fishermen..pretty good show too
4/21/2008 2:15:28 PM
