sounds to me like he's frustrated with not having a star receiver, and the packers not caring

Quote :
"Mortensen reported that Favre, who wanted the Packers to obtain Randy Moss when he was a free agent last season, had once again pushed for Moss to join the Packers. Favre had spoken to Moss late last week and was willing to commit to more than just this season if Moss and the Packers could come to an agreement. But the Packers did not pursue Moss, who re-signed with the Patriots on Monday.

well i guess he's going out on top in a sense...what were they last year regular season, 13-3 or something? good enough for #2 seed in the NFC...if you cant go out with a superbowl, at least don't go out 6-10

He does have a star receiver.

Also, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Packers not pursuing Moss was barely even a factor in his deciding to retire.

All the same, I'm still bummed

He calls Moss personally, and then tells the Packers that he is willing to commit to multiple years with the team if they sign him. Moss re-signs with New England, and less than 24 hours Favre retires. I'd say it was a factor.

he will wait until someone else is about to get a load of attention, or some big event and then announce he changed his mind so the favre love-fest can continue

He still had a top 10 receiving core without Moss

Driver, Jennings, Jones, Lee, Franks...better than most teams out there

and Ryan Grant to take some of the pressure off him

He had to know the Packers weren't going to pursue Moss with the money that Moss wanted. Favre's comments were probably along the lines of "if you can get Moss, I'll play a couple more years" which is a lot different from "if you don't sign Moss, I'm going to retire right now"

Not to mention the odds of Moss actually leaving New England were slim to none anyway.

I'm probably going to get grilled for this...but I'm not sure the Packers want him for a couple more years. Most of the organization is ready for Aaron Rodgers to step in and become the new face of the franchise. My buddy who has worked for the Packers for over 12 years has wanted Favre gone for the past three years.

if it wasn't for Detroit, the NFC North might not average 100 yards passing in a game next season.

The Packers picked Rodgers in the first round so they obviously thought he could take over.

He played pretty good in his one game this year against the Cowboys, but their pass D made everyone look good.

I don't see why anyone's surprised that Farve retired. He only stuck around as long as he did just so he could break all of Dan Marino's records, despite the fact that he was already over the hill just like Emmit Smith did.

in 2005/06 he was average at best. if he weren't brett favre people would have been crying for a new quarterback with the numbers he was putting up.

But thats the thing about us Green Bay fans... We stick with our guy.. We know he's proven, and when everyone was whinning that he needs to retire a couple years ago, we welcomed him back and he had a career year. We are Packers fans, not Philly or N.Y fans

I guess if the Cowboys were like Packers fans, Bledsoe would still be starting cause they would've "stuck with their guy"

what was the point of drafting Aaron Rogers?

Ok lets be clear ....Bledsoe is no Favre, neither is Tony Homo for that matter. If the Cowboys had a QB the caliber of Favre then your point would make some sense. Oh well....nice try.

I'm pretty certain (don't quote me on this) that Rodgers was drafted so he could take over for Favre when he retired.

you're right...Bledsoe doesn't have the drug problem or INT record

and I wouldn't have had to make that dumbass analogy if GangGanja didn't take a shot at every other NFL fanbase...I've seen Packers fans leave in the 3rd quarter of a blowout loss at Lambeau...you guys aren't some kind of superfans

It's nice to support your guy and all, but that doesn't change the fact that he stuck around to play bad football 2 out of his last 3 seasons for purely selfish reasons.
