I guess you could say that I like it, but not as much as dark or milk chocolate.

Plus, it's not actually chocolate.

I like the white hot chocolate at Caribou Coffee. That's about it though.

I get that white chocolate isn't 'real' chocolate which is why my mom (who is allergic to chocolate) can eat it....but she can ALSO eat DARK chocolate and I really have no idea what the difference is

"White chocolate is a confection of sugar, cocoa butter, and milk solids. Unlike chocolate, white chocolate contains neither chocolate liquor nor cocoa solids."

Quote :
"Milk chocolate is chocolate with milk powder or condensed milk added. The U.S. Government requires a 10% concentration of chocolate liquor. EU regulations specify a minimum of 25% cocoa solids. In the 1870s, Swiss confectioner Daniel Peter invented the process of solidifying milk chocolate using condensed milk, recently invented by Henri Nestlé."

"Dark chocolate is chocolate without milk as an additive. It is sometimes called "plain chocolate". The U.S. Government calls this "sweet chocolate", and requires a 15% concentration of chocolate liquor. European rules specify a minimum of 35% cocoa solids."

"# Chocolate liquor is the ground or melted state of the nib of the cacao bean
# Cocoa butter is the fat component
# Cocoa powder is the nonfat part of the cacao bean which is ground into a powder"

Apparently white chocolate causes depression and milk and dark chocolates cure it.

I usually dont like dark chocolate, but real/gourmet dark chocolate (like from a nice pastry shop or something) is scrumdiddlyumptious

I do like white chocolate. Whatever happened to those white chocolate Alpine bars they used to sell on cash register candy stands

I used to get these, but they'd be better with dark chocolate

fwiw, callebaut makes a decent white, but imho, most white chocolate is

it does, however, have plenty of legitimate uses:

a thin layer between crusts and fillings extends the life of tarts and pastries

it enhances the flavor and texture of custards, including cheesecake

it can substitute regular chocolate chips in cookies to not overpower other flavors (like macadamia nuts)

and of course, it can be drizzled or decorated onto milk or dark chocolates

I strongly dislike both white and dark chocolate. Well, I dislike white chocolate less than dark chocolate, but I still dislike it a lot.
