http://blog.al.com/live/2008/02/police_students_exchanged_nude.htmlPolice: Students exchanged nude cell phone photosFour Daphne Middle School students -- two boys and two girls -- have been accused of taking nude photos of themselves with cell phone cameras and exchanging them, Daphne Police said today. Daphne Police Lt. Jud Beedy said the investigation has uncovered two separate incidents: --In one incident, a girl and a boy took nude photographs of themselves and sent the photographs to each other. This happened off campus, he said. --In the other, a girl was given a cell phone by a boy. She took the cell phone into the girls bathroom at school, took nude photographs of herself and gave the cell phone back to the boy, he said. Three students involved have been suspended by Daphne Middle School administrators, Baldwin County Public Schools spokesman Terry Wilhite said today. No arrests have been made, Beedy said, but the investigation continueshttp://www.daphnemiddleschool.com/

3/3/2008 12:10:31 PM
Some of the guys on here need to take lessons from these little kids.
3/3/2008 12:15:12 PM
why is this a suspendable offense?
3/3/2008 12:16:27 PM
is it any fucking business of the school administration or anyone else a) what these kids are doing with their private property b) what these kids are doing in the bathroom?fucking no.I'm not saying this sort of promiscuous behavior needs to be encouraged, but neither does it need to be discouraged. There's no practical way to interfere with the development of sexuality in adolescents nor is there much point in trying.

3/3/2008 12:23:25 PM
I can see it being suspendable for doing it on school property, but not on their own time.
3/3/2008 12:24:15 PM
Maybe it is a suspendable offense for having a cellphone on campus or having pornographic material in your possesion on campus. Even if it is of yourself, you get a cellphone on you and its got cock pics, its pornographic.
3/3/2008 12:26:34 PM
Meh...don't see the problem if there was consent and they didn't show it to anyone else without the other person's permission.
3/3/2008 12:34:18 PM
wouldn't enforcement of this qualify as soliciting child pornography?Principal: LET ME SEE YOUR CAMERA PHONE, I HEAR YOU HAVE NAUGHTY PICS OF STUDENTS HEH HEH HEH
3/3/2008 12:36:11 PM
pics or it didn't happen.
3/3/2008 12:36:42 PM
^^^ legally, i'm fairly sure a kid that age can't even give consent for such a thing[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 12:37 PM. Reason : ^]

Suspended is harsh. I'd just inform the parents of the situation. No amount of suspension could equal the amount of beatings from mom and dad over something like this.

3/3/2008 12:54:08 PM
lol, this reminds me of when I sold all my dad's playboys and penthouses to the kids at my middle school. just about every locker had photos in them. One kid finally told on me, and the vp came and got me out of class. He thought it was kinda funny that i was 11 and had over four hundred dollars (mostly ones and fives) in my pocket. When my mom came and got me, he told her that i should start a young entrepreneur club after school.
3/3/2008 12:54:19 PM

3/3/2008 1:29:13 PM
middle school kids shouldn't be swapping nude pics. according to the article, the exchange of nudes happened once on school property, leading me to believe that the suspensions are justified. In the parent's position, if the school had not* suspended the kid that had my daughter take pics of herself AT SCHOOL and NAKED with HIS cell phone I would have sued the school for negligence. Harsh? go fuck yourself if you think so, but no kid of mine is gonna get posted naked anywhere by anyone until they are 18 and make that choice for themselves, and they certainly won't be coerced to do it when they are ELEVEN FUCKING YEARS OLD./rant
3/3/2008 2:04:47 PM
And why the fuck do middle school kids need phones with cameras?
3/3/2008 2:06:43 PM
I find nothing unacceptable about middle schoolers doing a slightly more technological version of "you show me yours and I'll show you mine." I mean hell, I fingerbanged a chick in my 7th grade social studies class. Kids, especially girls, are getting pubescent earlier and earlier nowadays, so is it any surprise that you would see an interest in sex at a younger age? Do they deserve suspension? Probably a good decision, but let's not blow this shit out of proportion and make it seem like they did some crazy, deviant, disturbing shit. Pretty normal adolescent behavior really.

^that is a limited point of view that totally ignores what can happen in a worst-case situation that very well could stem from 'innocent' activities like this, if left unchecked.
3/3/2008 2:31:04 PM
yes, you're right... we should give them some condoms, x, and blow, since it is inevitable.
HELL YEAH, WHERE DO I SIGN UP
3/3/2008 2:32:42 PM
Worst cases are outliers. People who model their lives on outliers are crazy: survivalists, fundamentalists, social conservatives, etc.
3/3/2008 2:32:49 PM
^x7 I guess, but it's damned hard to stop it from happening unless you post a teacher in each bathroom stall at all times. Most kids have cellphones, and it's not a horrible idea provided they are the kind with limited scope and use (like the ones that can only be used to call certain numbers and have GPS tracking enabled). Even if it's not that kind it's not that unusual or horrible if a family doesn't have a house phone but instead has a shared minutes plan. Bottom line is that the school is probably responsible from a legal standpoint, but there's no reasonable way they could have prevented this from happening.[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 2:34 PM.
