What things scare your dog that you didnt expect?

My dog Connor is terrified of umbrellas. I open my umbrella, and he will cower as far away as possible, sometimes even whimpering.
Some days he gets ambitious and barks at it.
I got him from a shelter... makes you wonder.

mine's a rescue pup and i think she still has some memories, even after having her for 4 years

most of her fears have all been alleviated, but there were a ton at first.

however, if i open a trash bag and she sees it, she'll get under my bed for an hour.

as soon as i pull a bag out of the cupboard she'll see it, and dart for my room

makes me wonder what someone did to her with a bag

maybe I should re[hrase myself. Its not so much the umbrella itself, unopened, its the opening of the umbrella/opened umbrella that freaks him out. i dunno.

We were watching the Kansas/Kansas state game the other night and the announcer is talking about Bill Walker and dog goes ballistic

Couple of things my dog doesn't like...

Doesn't like it when my wife and I play fight... it goes beyond the normal dog barking at you reaction...she gets really angry.

Doesn't like people messing with her front paws. Rear are fine.

Is a terrier, notorious for wanting to be under covers, or burrow. She can't stand to be covered up. Loathes it.

My dog used to run and hide if anyone got out a broom. It's really sad thinking how much some of these animals must have been through.

Also, if I hugged someone he wasn't really familiar with, he would run up and start humping their leg.

someone probably beat your dog with an open umbrella.

Take him somewhere with lots of people (like ncsu campus) on a rainy day, that would scare the shit out of him.

My dog is afraid of a camera. The only way I can take pictures of him is when he is asleep or totally unsuspecting.

she loves burrowing under the covers when you're in bed, pretty funny

My brother's dogs used to love it when they said "cracker" because it meant they'd get to eat a cracker. And one time he said "crack the window" and they freaked. It took him a minute to figure out why.
