that could happen for our team?

I don't want to see another off season where everyone things we will be much improved and ranked in the pre-season. I don't want players and coaches thinking everything is alright and they don't have to work hard in the off season.

How can you win the ACC championship and not forget how bad this team was during the regular season. It happened last year when everyone forgot how bad we were without a really good point guard.

Yeah winning the ACC Tournament for the first time in 21 years would really be bad for our program going forward. An ACC Championship would put some pride in the players and the fans. Perhaps people would get behind Lowe more instead of criticizing his every move. Also an ACC Championship would help us a great deal in recruiting as well as national perception. If we won the ACC Championship then that probably means that we got some very good production at the PG position from Javi and Marques. I wonder about some of you guys sometimes.

It would never be a bad thing to win the ACC tournament.

I do...HOWEVER...feel like our run last year kind of hurt this team. We definitely bought into our own hype...players and coaches. Players didn't spend the offseason getting in shape and improving their game. Coaches spent the offseason on the golf course lobbying for higher salaries instead of trying to figure out how to implement a dominant freshmen with a cohesive unit.

Sad thing is that most of the fans bought into the hype too. What a disappointing year. I know...they're all disappointing as a NC State fan in almost every sport...but there was a lot of hope going into this year and the team has failed miserably so far...not just underachieved.

I guess it's natural for people are trying to draw positives. Yes, we played a good game against Duke... but we are close to having our first losing season in 7 years, are dangerously close to not even making the NIT and have lost the most consecutive ACC games in a row since the Les Robinson era.

Actually nevermind... Les never had a 7 game ACC losing streak. Is this our longest ACC losing streak ever?

*** In 1966-1967 we lost 7 games in a row in the ACC. It was Norm Sloan's first season. That is our longest ACC losing streak ever.

yes i know but sendek had that one year where we were doing good (wilkins first year i think), then the team collapsed and lost a bunch of acc games in a row. i thought it was 8

No matter what the situation, the ACC tournament is always the most important weekend for us. To quote Valvano, the only thing that winning the regular season means is that you get to play at noon on Friday.

I really don't think that winning a few games at the end of the season is going to affect how we train in the offseason. Making yourself into a better basketball player comes from the inside. You have to have the desire to improve. Your win-loss record from the previous season is irrelevant.

From about 92-99, the #1 seed played at 2:30, not noon. And then there were two or three crazy years where Duke played the last seed on Thursday night and also on Thursday night was the "play in" game which was #7 vs #8, and Duke would get a rest until Saturday. And then after that they switched back to the regular format until expansion. Our team could easily win two games in the ACC tourney as long as we don't play a full strength UNC team. However, winning two more is not feasible since it will go through UNC, and that's if we were to beat Duke. It's gonna be Duke and UNC most likely, Clemson is the only other team that could beat Duke or UNC, and they haven't done anything in the ACC tourney in years, they're cursed when it comes to the ACCT

7 was the most acc games sendek lost in a row. 1999-2000 season. this was recently discussed in another thread.
