8th best college basketball player everaccording to espnyay
2/27/2008 9:18:50 PM
BS, should have been higher i mean really, not just NCstating it
2/27/2008 9:22:34 PM
sidney lowe will get #1there is none higher
2/27/2008 9:23:17 PM
agreed, I figured he would get dicked over by espn, but I didnt think he would drop out of the top 25I wonder if Hansbrough will be ranked higher than DT
2/27/2008 9:24:18 PM
pretty sure kris lang is gonna be up there
2/27/2008 9:26:00 PM
DT needs to be top 5.
2/27/2008 9:29:44 PM
I sure it'll be Laettner or Lewis Alcindor...Maybe Pete Maravich...Jordan or Bill Walton
2/27/2008 9:33:31 PM
There's Pistol Pete, Lew Alcindor, DT in the top 3, and then there's everyone else.
2/27/2008 9:33:42 PM
well laettner is already like number 14...and jordan is like 12[Edited on February 27, 2008 at 9:37 PM. Reason : just sayin]
2/27/2008 9:37:26 PM
alcindor will be number 1 mark me words
2/27/2008 9:38:45 PM
oh.. I hadn't seen the entire list.. Well at least DT is ranked higher than jordan.
2/27/2008 9:39:02 PM
Pistol Pete and his 44 points a game should be number 1.[Edited on February 27, 2008 at 9:51 PM. Reason : .]
2/27/2008 9:39:50 PM
yea, Alcindor will be #1^not enough competition... he'll be top 5 though]
2/27/2008 9:42:17 PM
^^ While I agree that he's one of the greatest ever, his stats were somewhat skewed by the inferior competition he faced as well as the fact that his dad was the coach and ran the entire team through him. what sucks is that he could have been a state player, but he didn't get accepted even though Press was coaching here at the time.[Edited on February 27, 2008 at 9:42 PM. Reason : asfgd]
2/27/2008 9:42:37 PM
Maravich should be #1, he fucking dominated shit and played against plenty of good competition. But I am surprised DT wasnt higher[Edited on February 27, 2008 at 9:56 PM. Reason : d]
2/27/2008 9:48:13 PM
link plz
2/27/2008 10:03:55 PM
Pete Maravich's grandson for coach
2/27/2008 10:04:38 PM
pete was great, but Lew Alcindor was better i mean 88-2 for your 3 season and 3 titles.... untouchable
2/27/2008 10:05:14 PM
well, I agree that his team was better
2/27/2008 10:05:54 PM
Yeah Pistol Pete should be number one. He turned LSU into a good team after they were shitty for a long time. Alcindor will probably be number 2. Bill Walton, Jerry West, and Bill Russell for sure have to be up there. Don't be suprised if Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati) slips in.D.T is often refered to as the most dominating college player of all time. (needs to be top 3).
2/27/2008 10:07:12 PM
nearly every basketball historian that is worth a shit all agree that david thompson is the greatest college player everfuck espnfuck their stupid lists
2/27/2008 10:07:24 PM
newest espn program:who would win in a fight? david thompson vs. pistol pete
2/27/2008 10:10:15 PM
doesnt DT win by default since pistol pete is dead?
2/27/2008 10:11:04 PM
ummmmm, who cares who the greatest COLLEGE basketball player was?
2/27/2008 10:12:24 PM
^lots of people.Anyway, I expect to see Seacat on the list, just not sure where..
2/27/2008 10:14:19 PM
considering pete is dead.... DT
2/27/2008 10:16:42 PM
oscar will definitely be on therei doubt pete will get #1 though... he was the only one who really played on his team, so no wonder he scored so much... no doubt he was one of the most dominant players of all time, but i doubt he'll get #1
2/27/2008 10:19:26 PM
Oscar Robertson

Big O, Lew, ummm, I'm having a hard time thinking of who else should be up there.

2/28/2008 12:23:18 AM
so who would i pick? the closest local team is the bobcats but pigs will fly before i root for those UNC fags. Sure there are players I like, but they can be traded at any time. It's mostly a bunch of greedy guys who want to get theirs and play no defense. I'd rather watch a quality low scoring game than a high scoring game where no one attempts defense. Granted you have the selfish players in college, but they are more tame... it's overall just a different attitude
2/28/2008 12:29:10 AM
well i am roommates with a diehard lakers fan, i'm talking diehard for 30 yearsi started watching every game and man i really think it's just as exciting if not moreso when you actually have a team to cheer for. I watch most other western conf. games now and can't get enough. I like college too though and am very interested in the top 25 poat
2/28/2008 12:33:26 AM
just go with the lakers
2/28/2008 12:35:20 AM
The NBA has gotten much more watchable ever since they eliminated the illegal defense rule and let them use zone defense. The skill level in the NBA is so far above that of college ball it's unbelievable. It really is like watching the NFL vs. college football. I really hated the NBA for about a 6 year span, but it's starting to grow on me again, and it's undeniable that the talent pool in college has really gone down the shitter.
2/28/2008 12:39:53 AM
watch an NBA basketball offensive set and a college basketball set and compare how many poor passes are made.

2/28/2008 1:52:16 AM
Maravich only shot 44%... it's not like he was dominating by making every shot he took, he just took a shitload of shots. Averaged 38 shots per game for 3 years...that's more rediculous than the points^^ is that a rule?[Edited on February 28, 2008 at 1:56 AM. Reason : .]
2/28/2008 1:53:37 AM
2/28/2008 1:58:13 AM
44% is pretty solid for a guard. Think about how many more he would have scored if the 3-point line was in when he played.
2/28/2008 2:00:54 AM
So he had no reason to shoot from that far away... I don't know I never saw him play, but hell, Fells shoots 48% maybe we should just get him to shoot 38 times per game and lead us to...the NIT[Edited on February 28, 2008 at 2:05 AM. Reason : text was too small]
2/28/2008 2:04:25 AM
nobody is denying he was GREAT, hell i even made an appreciation thread for his college daysbut he wasn't a team player... he was a great individual but not the most valuable/greatest asset he's still in my top 2 or 3and offensive 3 second violation is loss of possession. defensive 3 second violation is a technical shot and offense retains possession[Edited on February 28, 2008 at 2:09 AM. Reason : 3 second]
2/28/2008 2:06:47 AM
I wish I could show you guys some of these pictures I have of DT.I don't own the copyrights so I can't, but you all would love to see them.
2/28/2008 8:25:23 AM
This list is a freakin joke:1) Alcindor2) Thompson3) Walton4) Maravich5) RobertsonBird, Laettner, Lucas, Ford, Wilt, and Kurland should be next in line (In no particular order)...and the fact that Jordan is 1 spot behind Laettner (Not to mention above Jamison and maybe Ford if he isn't on there) proves what a joke ESPN is. Jordan couldn't hold Jamison's jock at the college level. They've left Ford off thus far, so either they think UNC's best COLLEGE player is Jordan, or they think Phil Ford was better than Thompson. Either way, they're high as a damn kite[Edited on February 28, 2008 at 8:34 AM. Reason : ]
2/28/2008 8:28:52 AM
their college football player list was 13 kinds of fucked up too.Vince Young was #10, and Archie "I'm the only player to EVER win 2 Heismans" Griffin was #21
2/28/2008 8:45:40 AM
It's espnhome of smug bastards, half-hearted sports "coverage," and most of all, arrogance as to all things sports.who expected any difference from this and the other retarded lists they make?the true question is... who's worse, ESPN or SI?
