What happens if you currently receive grant money and you drop a class that cause you to have less than 12 credit hours?? Since you have already "paid" for the class do you keep your full time status or do you revert to part time status and thus forced to repay the grant money?

Depends who the grant is from. Some local organization or group might not care so long as you're still enrolled but if it's more official like the govt, then yes you'll need a total of 24 hours to be a full time student for the school year to keep it or they can ask you to refund it back. I just took summer classes to get my 24 when that occured to me.

well i was on CoOp last semester

the grant was from NCSU and if i drop the class i'll have 10 hours total for this spring.

the tricky part is i take 4 hours this summer to graduate.

I thought it was a big long process to get below 12 hours and have the class dropped? Like you have to go through the dean of your college and have an excuse like your working too much or something. Am I wrong?

Do any current co-op participants know how participating in co-op will affect financial aid? I know you don't get any while on your rotation but what about the other semester? I plan on checking with the office of financial aid, but just wanted to ask here first for anyone's experiences.

I'm on the Co-Op program now. It doesn't affect your financial aid for the semesters you are taking class, but I have always had at least 12 hours worth of classes. Dropping below 12 hours will reduce your aid but not completely take it away. The government assumes that if you are only a part-time student then you have a job with enough income to front part of the cost of taking the classes.

^thanks, just wanted to make sure because I don't think I'll make enough money doing co-op say fall semester to pay for all of the spring semester's expenses.

maybe i forgot to mention fucktard the reason i am only taking 10 hours real hours toward graduation instead of just finishing out is b.c i am working 30 hours/week to pay for my current living expenses.

I would like to see you stretch 13K (40 hours * (coOp/hr pay)*18 weeks) , which is before taxes btw, to last 9 months of living expenses AND pay your $3500 in tuition.

Plenty of other students i know worked the system or had poor parents thus received grant money every semester while i was taking out loans to pay tuition. I do not see a problem with accepting a grant for my last semester in school espicially when uncle sam will be chomping at my future paycheck anyway.
