This year....

The United States Air Force will start at least partial phase-out of their B-52 Bombers, which will have then served 93 years of combat.

August 12 — A Solar Eclipse will occur from Northern California to Florida.

Futurist Ray Kurzweil predicts a Technological Singularity for 2045, i.e. a runaway cycle of self-improvement by intelligent machines, resulting in explosive technological development.

I want to live to see all of the above.

Or you can just go to Antarctica to view the solar eclipse next year.

I wish everyone that actually thinks a 'technological singularity (LOL)' is possible within our lifetime would do like ron paul supporters and scamper to the basement of their parents house to never see the light of day again.

why do you care about the b52 being phased out?

my brother used to work on them (then he worked on the b2, and now works on jstars doing ABM) and i always thought they were pretty cool (big workhorse)

^^I was under the impression that wars are actually good for technology and innovation. I'm pretty sure that a lot of technological breakthroughs were made during wars.

The attempt at the B29 was the Tu-4. It's actuallyt a pretty funny story.

Quote :
"The Soviet Union used the metric system, thus 1/16th inch sheet aluminium and proper rivet lengths were unavailable. The corresponding metric-gauge metal was thicker; as a result the Tu-4 weighed more than the B-29, giving it less range and payload."
