I logged into my router after seeing the wireless router thread, and saw on the front page how long the router had been up. So I checked the computer I keep in my closet as a backup file server also.

Router:
Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std
Time: 14:20:04 up 207 days, 14:44, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Backup computer:
\\JoeBackup has been up for: 202 day(s), 3 hour(s), 9 minute(s), 27 second(s)

Desktop:
\\Joe has been up for: 12 day(s), 5 hour(s), 10 minute(s), 29 second(s)

Laptop:
powerbookg4:~ joe$ uptime
8:23 up 2 days, 17:14, 2 users, load averages: 0.16 0.03 0.01

I use an uptime utility from Microsoft.

202 days is impressive without a backup generator.

I got almost a year once out of a windows 2000 server...only because it was barely being used and I was at school (it was at work..) so nobody touched it while I wasn't there

i don't really understand the whole fascination with uptime, i mean with Windows, there are updates every month, and at least an update that requires a restart every other month...

(for desktops)... i understand uptime for servers tho.

me neither. it's not really a fascination, just kinda interesting to see how long these things have been on. i pretty much forgot about the router and backup computer running in my office closet... it just works.

our webserver at work was up for well over a year until... RAID CONTROLLER FAILURE!

it was horrible. the mail log got written to the database files. i'm guessing because those are two very popular directories. nothing like opening up your mysql files to see viagra spam rejection.

had to change the IPs on my two domino servers this morning which requires restarting domino :-P

So I lost my 161 days of uptime on domino, but windows has still been up 436days and 359 days.
