man, its been crazy nice here the last couple of weeks too
3/9/2008 5:48:13 AM
so how is it living on the western time zone? i would think it would be hard for me at first...so use to the 5 oclock news and watching situation room from 4-7.....it would be wierd to see wolf blitzer come on tv at 1-4 instead
3/9/2008 8:51:07 AM
its also ranked as one of the most dog friendly places in the us
3/9/2008 9:53:32 AM
Everybody here has a dog.. and there are too many hippies as well..
3/9/2008 4:23:22 PM
sounds like where i need to be!
3/9/2008 5:57:58 PM
yeah I've seen a ridiculous number of dogs here, including in stores, hotel rooms, restaurants...
3/9/2008 6:07:50 PM
id love to live in a more pet friendly area. Got this US travel guide for dog people the other day bout where you can go, places to stay, where you can take them. Im hoping to get some use out of it
3/9/2008 6:42:25 PM
^^^me too! seattle is on my short list of cities i would actually live in
3/9/2008 6:43:38 PM
living 3 hours back isnt bad, you get used to it within a few days. ESPECIALLY if you drive to get there. cause you pretty much lose track of time anyways while driving all day.the only shitty part is catching calls from NC at 5AM.[Edited on March 9, 2008 at 6:47 PM. Reason : medina medina ]
3/9/2008 6:47:30 PM
^true that on the 5am nonsense
3/9/2008 11:20:39 PM
It's odd watching your favorite football team at 10:00 am on Sunday play..... the West Coast is not good for my church habits because of this.Honestly I hate this area. I like the sun, and it rains almost all the time here. Yes, the summers are pretty awesome, but 9 months of shitty weather do not make up for 3 months of awesome weather. I have noted a noticeable drop in my morale and eagerness to get out and do things since I started living here. I really miss the East Coast.
3/10/2008 1:13:20 AM
damn thats unfortunateive felt infinitely more productive since moving out hereand no, it does not rain all the time....sure it rains frequently, but a small amount of preparation can mean the difference between just a bit of rain and a miserable experience
3/10/2008 5:18:52 AM
man, i want to move to seattle...i've never been, but i can't imagine a place i'd rather live (unless it's somewhere in colorado)
3/10/2008 11:28:15 AM
i agree on the driving across and not noticing the time change. calling East Coast friends is a bitch on the day time minutes
3/10/2008 3:09:34 PM
3/10/2008 4:55:59 PM
I thought seattle quit being cool back in the 90's
3/10/2008 5:01:23 PM
Seattle's all well and good, but the weather sucks SO bad.
3/14/2008 1:08:19 AM
hahaha...fayette-nam vs seattle...hmm, lemme think...man that's a tough one
3/14/2008 1:19:13 PM
There's a few similarities, but the overall culture of the two places is drastically different. Seattle has more of an Asheville feel to it
3/15/2008 1:46:37 AM
So Seattle is one of the places I've been considering in my job search, and I received a call this afternoon from a Seattle-based firm that has an upcoming opening in their Tacoma office (North End). The problem is, I know nothing about Tacoma. From 10 minutes of research I've gathered that it's a pretty nice place with a lower cost of living, and about 40 minutes driving time from downtown Seattle. I'm especially looking for general info on things like parks, restaurants, bars, outdoor-type activities, where I'd want to live, and so on. I don't expect to find all this info here, but any personal experience is appreciated. Looks like the regional bus from Tacoma to Seattle is $3, which is cool.I've by no means secured the job, of course...I'd just like a little preliminary info on the city before I begin talking to them.[Edited on April 8, 2008 at 8:17 PM. on a different note... to my Seattle peeps... we're flying into SEATAC in Sept, and staying the night in Seattle before getting on the Amtrak to Vancouver. How familiar are you guys with hotels in the downtown area? We've been looking hard at the Inn at the Market http://www.innatthemarket.com/ comments? I know they're a little high, but seems like a great location, within walking distance of most everything, and great views. It's vacation so I am not worried about cheaping out.
4/9/2008 1:42:33 AM
man it just won't quit fucking raining. what the fuck? it's June already.
6/6/2008 6:53:04 PM
yeah, i've had a pretty good time here over the last year, but i'm ready to leave. if nothing else, the weather is fucking terrible. i mean, it was like 53 degrees today.also--and this is specific to Whidbey Island (especially Oak Harbor)--I have never seen a place with so many cops. It's almost impossible to drive here without getting constantly hassled and/or ticketed. I've been pulled over 13 times and ticketed thrice in the year that I've lived here. It's so bad that I wouldn't live here just because of that.it's a beautiful area, and i enjoyed skiing through the winter (though it rains almost every day for the better part of the year). the SCUBA diving is pretty good, except that the water is fucking frigid. I'm glad I've seen the northwest now, but y'all can keep this place. I'm out in another month or a little more, and I can't say that it'll be a sad day.
6/8/2008 5:32:19 AM
anyone want to suggest some good restaurants (looking for about ~$20 max entree prices)ill be in Seattle next week for a couple days for work
6/27/2008 10:29:38 AM
i don't live in seattle and i'm not sure what part of town you'll be staying/working in, but when i was there last fall i ate at the belltown bistro and it was great, i highly recommend the crab mac and cheesealso in the same neighborhood is black bottle, a wine bar/tapas-type place that i enjoyed -- probably better with friends or a small group of people (as opposed to dining alone)and a place to avoid -- pyramid brewery/restaurant (over by the stadiums), i'm not crazy about their beers to begin with but the food wasn't good at all (just bar food, burgers and stuff, and still bad)
6/27/2008 11:28:45 AM
location isnt an issue, ill have time to do whatever when im not meeting/working in the hoteli like to eat locally when i travel to get a better feel for where i am...i use work trips sort of like mini vacations because a lot of my work trips end up being a day or two of travel/staying in the city for about an hour's worth of meetingsjust looking for some good pacific salmon and whatever else might be good
6/27/2008 11:41:39 AM
6/27/2008 2:16:01 PM
i ate at wasabi bistro last night, only sushi place i could find open downtown...lotta sushi + cheap sake = good stuffi liked it, good atmosphere and near bars
7/1/2008 12:26:01 PM
so i was definitely about a block from this when it happened yesterday...wandering around downtown and doing a few errandshttp://seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/PrintStory.pl?document_id=2008028781&zsection_id=2003925728&slug=bankrobbery02m&date=20080702
7/2/2008 11:43:23 AM
yeah, pretty crazy shit. i wish i worked downtown, instead of being stuck out in fucking Redmond. (no, not MSFT).my wife works at Harborview, too. lots of patients there have police guards stationed in the rooms.
