I have a 1991 town car and the air bag light blinks on and off whenever the car is running, it just started doing it like 2 months ago and I don't think it will pass inspection if they see it. Any suggestions? I know the dealer but I am short on dollar bills if u know what i mean. thanks

after you see the ridiculous prices for repairing the air bag system and decide to sell it cheap, let me know.

Most of the time, the air suspension will do the thing where one end will drop when parked for a long period of time but will come up to normal ride height when turned on (my Mark VIII did that for about half the time I had it). That would not be a reason for failure (the car will not be there long enough for them to notice, and even if they did, as long as it comes up when you start the car, you're fine.) Of course if the bags are totally blown it won't pass. But I don't think there is a dashboard light for that. Does a '91 TC have a "message center", i.e. digital panel in the dash that tells you such things? If so, that's where a message about the suspension would show up. I *think* what the poster is referring to is, indeed, the SRS light. I would say go ahead and take it on down for an inspection. If it doesn't pass, you have a month to fix the problem, and they don't charge you the whole fee for the reinspection, just something like $5-10 IIRC.[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 2:42 AM. It's not my air suspension, I replaced that already, it's the airbag..."light" that blinks, what would cause this? anyone know. And it has a message center but it's limited. It doesn't say hey ur air bag is screwed up...fix it.I might just try the inspection anyway.

You have a 17 year old Lincoln. In all likelihood, it's just an electrical gremlin in the control panel. They happen. Failing that, there may actually be something wrong with your air bag, but a)you can pass inspection anyway, b)you're surrounded by 4200 lbs. of full-frame car in an accident anyway, and c)you wear your seatbelt, right? As I suggested, and as you said, go ahead and get it inspected. If you pass-don't sweat it. If you don't--head over to http://www.lincolnsonline.com and ask them. Some very knowledgeable folks over there about the Town Car.
