so i thought id bring the evil politics to chit chat, and post my voting record since 96 when i turned 18

96: clinton
00: bush
04: kerry

you may notice i voted republican 1/3 of the time
im one of those things they talk about when they speak of genX voters or whatever. socially liberal, fisically conservative.

i considered myself republican when i voted for clinton (but i liked clinton as a person, plus he was up against like dole or someshit)
considered myself democrat when i voted for bush (over gore, gimme a break) and kerry (over the last 4 years of bush, no brainer)

anyways, im registered independent / unaffiliated / whatever

i think its looking like this for my vote in 2008, and i want to hear your choices too (if you care to speak). NO TALK ABOUT WHY, BUT SITUATIONS ARE OK (as i will now explain):

if it turns out clinton vs mccain, i'm 100% mccain
obama vs mccain, i'm 75/25 obama.

i dont want to vote republican right now at all, but hillary scares me worse. and i like obama like i liked bill clinton (except i thought bill was better with money, havent seen much obama yet)

so the questions, (adding rules so this doesnt turn soap box):

1) list your registration (R/D/U)
2) who did you vote for in years past (try to remember as far back as you can, old people)
3) who are you voting for, considering each possible scenario.

i know this is like making a religion thread and asking people not to argue. but im just interested in the 3 answers here, not really why you hate this or that. so i guess the basic rule is no getting off topic. talk all the shit you want, just dont reply to other peoples shit talking

thanks

I'm conservative in a libertarian sort of way, but in our county you have to be registered democrat or you do not get a say in local elections because they are all decided in the democratic primaries. The minority voting block is huge and they almost all vote Democrat. There are also a lot of older people who would vote for Charles Manson's evil twin if he was on the Democratic ticket. I voted for Bush twice because I thought he was the lesser of the two evils and there is no way I'd vote for Hillary or Obama. If one of them had to get elected, I would prefer Obama over Hillary. I just wish Ron Paul had a chance.

1) I think I'm a registered as a Democrat, because I got free pizza one time for doing so.
2) I've only been able to vote in one election and I voted for my dad, because I didn't like any of the candidates and didn't want to put the cliche of Micky Mouse down.
3) I'm voting for Ron Paul.

That's a good idea. Sumbitch might actually win one of these years ...

ron paul?

is that because you got free pizza or because you saw a cool sign flying behind a plane one day in the brickyard

^^ He'd get a lot of votes around here if he was the Democratic candidate, especially if he made donations where they counted.

give him a break, his name IS spontaneous

and btw, i really want paul to win. if he does some kind of 3rd party thing, i'll vote for him, but i dont think you can if you run in a primary. i dunno how that works.

Ever since I heard McCain sing...

Quote :
"bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran...bomb bomb bomb bomb boob Iran"

and also the 100 years in Iraq thing didnt go over well..

plus, he has had several episodes of skin cancer and it usually comes back, doubt he will be able to do 8 years.

Obama is Bill Clinton Light...throw out the governorship, throw in rookie Senator, and it is the same shit(same change BS), different verse...even his wife is Hillary Light....

Michelle Obama '16

1. U
2. Kerry (went to Clinton innaguration but was too young to vote)
3. Obama ?

Primarily I dont like the idea of intellectual imbreeding or a sort of monarchy developing in our White House (Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton...).

taken out of context

1. R (though very, very frustrated with the party, and jump ship to Libertarian and even Dem sometimes)
2. 2004--Badnarik; 2000--Bush
3. McCain

speaking of presidential wives and all that, is anyone else for amending the amendment that calls for only 2 terms in office and extending that to someone AND their immediate family?

even though i liked clinton (the male) a lot, i'd hate to see him use his wife in a loophole to live in the white house for 8 more years, etc. even though if she DID win, she'd be out in a year.

also. the bush family. george HW should have been the end of the line.

reminds me too much of the royals. i thought we wanted to get away from that monarchy type shit

^^I never really thought of it like that before. Maybe only one person per two generations should be a politician. Hmmmmm....

I'll ask Deep Thought.

And the Ron Paul thing was due to free pizza. But it was really good pizza.

-registered libertarian
-voted libertarian for as long as i can remember
-the reasoning is simple...libertarians have the most rational and self-consistent plan for government(in so far as slimy politicians are capable)

folks always ask why i would "throw my vote away", at which point i find a democrat and ask them how many times a dem. has won NC is recent history...
