Here's to hoping for Omaha!

CSTV preview:
Quote :
"North Carolina State (38-23, 16-14)

The Good News:

Coach Elliott Avent has a good nucleus returning. It all starts at the top of the stat-sheet where 2B Dallas Poulk (.394), OF Ryan Pond (.326-7-41), OF Marcus Jones (.321-4-33) and OF Pat Ferguson (.319) are the top four batters from last year and all return. Staff ace Eric Surkamp (4-5, 3.47) is back. But the best news of all is that Eryk McConnell (3-2, 1.72, 11 svs), who pitched in the Cape and for Team USA last summer, decided to return despite being an 11th round pick of the Orioles.

The Bad News:

Six-foot-11 slinger Andrew Brackman has gone to the pros. And Mike Roskopf, the best power source on the team (13HRs), and Nake Karns, an eight-time starter on the mound, both transferred out in the off-season. SS Ramon Corona, one of the more dynamic fielders in college baseball, also must be replaced.

The Intangible:

The Pac 10 frontcourt.

A pair of transfers could play a big part in the Pack's pitching corps this year - and both are basketball built. Six-foot-eight Jason Zinser is a transfer from UCLA, but was named the No. 5 prospect in the California Coastal League. Six-foot-four Alex Sogard is a transfer from Oregon State and also threw well in the Cal Coastal League too.

Schedule Note:

In an 11-day stretch at the end of March, the Wolf Pack will play three games at Clemson, three at North Carolina and a mid-weeker at East Carolina. They'll also play eight of their last nine regular season games on the road.

"

Started the season with an 8-1 win over AppSt.

I was there for both games. The first game was an event for the SWPC and Josh Dowdy, former ECU pitcher, started for App. We scored 7 runs off him and there was some good heckling towards him. Announced attendance was 1763. Our pitching was dominant as in the first game and in the 6th App scored 4 and went up by 3. We got a run back, but that was it. Our best chance was bases loaded 2 outs in the 8th, but struck out swinging at a low ball. Tomorrow freshman Jake Buchanan from North Gaston HS in Dallas, NC starts. Game @ 1:30

One highlight from the 1st game was Dallas hitting a foul ball and it shattered a car's back window.

[Edited on February 23, 2008 at 11:12 PM. Reason : owner taped the back and wrote thanks for the free baseball]

Seems like every year we are either loaded in pitching and suck at hitting or vice versa.

Much like football was under Chuck. One side was awesome and the other sucked. This year our baseball team doesn't look too good at either outside of a few like Dallas, Pond, Surkamp, and McConnell.

Wolfpack 14-4 final Drew Martin was 4-4 and Dallas got a hit to extend his hitting streak. Need to keep the offense going and get pitching together to go after Louisville in Charleston on Friday.

Why did we not pull the pitcher or even have anyone warming up in the 9th today when High was in trouble? I was listening on the radio and pulling my hair out. It worked out and I guess that is why I am not a coach but damn I was worried.

Mike Roskopf- probably b/c he was only used as the DH and maybe played a defensive position once
Nate Karns- didn't get the pitching time he thought he deserved, already has a win for Texas Tech

That's my reasons for why they transferred.

Beat A&T 14-9 after having an 11-2 lead after 4. BIG series this weekend vs Virginia, we need to get the ACC schedule off to a good start.

UVA has actually been one of the better teams the last few years so if we can take 2 out of 3 that would be a good start. Doesn't get easier with Miami the next weekend. Both first ACC weekends are at home though. Also we got Duke back on the schedule this year and don't play Georgia Tech so that's a plus.

Split double header with UVA.

Virginia won the 1st game 5-3 and then State won 2-0

Get the victory tomorrow PACK and help me get over basketball season.

GG on giving UVA their first loss of the year. Clayton Shunick was lights out for 8 innings.

A win tomorrow would be a good start to a rough ACC season over a good team.

Way to go Dallas! Great win for the PACK. Pitching needs to stay strong against Quinnipiac and Miami.
We can't have a let down this week and it helps that we are 2-1 in the ACC and now the students are back.

the way they do student seating now really really pisses me off. There were thousands of seats open today, yet never allowed any students to sit in the seats. Grass hill or nothing. The kid that even sits at the opposing teams dugout with his shirt off and yells was told to move, so he went and bought a ticket just so he could sit there. Ridiculous

Reid should have that seat allocated to him for the rest of his life if you ask me.

I dont think there is ANY NC State fan that would go against that either.

I thought Reid and those guys on the third base line had season tickets. Truely make the game great. I remember beating him in a wing eating contest during one of the games last year.

Last year I thought they didn't have any problem with you sitting in those seats during the sparsely attended games. It was those ECU, Carolina, and other conference night games where they'd enforce it usually.

^no games did they care where you sat. There were small plaques on the seats that were reserved that you couldn't sit in. There was also no "staff" standing at the top of sections keeping people out.

This year, supposedly every section except for the last 3 on the 3rd base side is reserved(total bullshit) and those last 3 sections are GA tickets. There is also total rejects standing at the top of each section that LITERALLY pick out students and ask them if they have a ticket as they are walking around the sections. And what really pissed me off is how big of a deal they made the Reid situation today. The announced attendance was somewhere around 700(without the students, it would have prolly been around 300) yet they kick him out of his section, the "staff" lady calls about 3 other "staff" people to help her and after he buys a ticket so he can sit there, they get a cop to stand at the top of the section. Fucking ridiculous. I hate this administration

I thought it was funny when Reid left his hat in the seat to show he would be back and then the shouting match between him and the girl & big guy who were telling him to put his shirt back on.

Marcus Jones' 2nd Homer was the longest I have ever seen at Doak Field. It went OVER the scoreboard.

Pat Ferguson's intro song is "Fergalicious" and he wanted to do it last year and some of the team messed with him and this year he said he didn't care what they thought and he was going to use it.
