I am about to build a new computer with an SLI board and am sort of on a budget. Would it be better to get 2 lower cards (GeForce 7300GT 256MB) and link them with SLI or should I spend about the same amount of $ and get a single higher card (GeForce 7600GT 256MB)?I am not that intense of a gamer but I do intend on having a tuner card so I can watch movies and HDTV. Any advice pertaining to the subject would be greatly appreciated.

what, specifically, do you want to do with it? as a casual gamer and someone who watches HDTV on his computer, i've got an 8600GTS (SLI-capable) that i picked up for ~$100 that does everything i want it to do (i particularly wanted oblivion to run smoothly on the highest settings, and it does)

get an 8600 if you don't want to play brand new games on high settings.i think the 8800gt for $200 is a steal.

SLI on anything under 8800gt is pretty worthless IMHO. The 8600gt/gts series are pretty good as a stand alone and do well with SLI, but again, for 2 8600, you could get an 8800, so why not get the better card and only have to deal with one card.I have both the 8800gts 640 and a 8600gt and both work really good for games. I'm very surprised by how well the 8600gt does as it performs just as good, if not better, than the 7900gs on my older Pentium system.
