1. Expensive to port games from one system to another2. Got to pay licensing fees to Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo3. Can't upgrade a console, and if you could people would be relucant to release games that'd used the upgrade4. Controls aren't nearly as accurate (except for the Wii )Consoles are for parties and when you want to play with friends in personPCs are for everything else

I find both of these threads pretty pointless. The market can handle all segments right now and for the foreseeable future.

as far as your point of "can't upgrade a console" I think that's an advantage of consoles. I've never had to buy a $300 graphics card so I can play a new game.

you do, its just packaged prettier.dont get me wrong i like consoles for things too. just pointing that out.

Are you guys insane???PC gaming is almost dead... While you guys are pulling shit out of your asses, you should instead spend your time researching the topic.Maybe you're too busy playing WoW to read the news. I'm adding this to my topics, and when I get back class, will respond with facts and industry response to the dying PC market. At first I thought this was a ressurrected thread from 2001. I sincerely hope this is a joke thread.

lol. neither are going to be dead anytime soon

I do have to admit that pretty much after Goldeneye and Mario Kart back in the day consoles have only served one purpose to me:NCAA FootballI've had a 360 for over a year now, and that is still the only game I have bought. I've tried demos and just none of them hold my interest longer than 5 minutes.

i am just the opposite - i just don't see how anyone could repeatedly play a sports game that you really can't add any creativity. halo may seem repetitive, but once you learn to get creative with the assortment of weapons, nades, power ups (for a lack of better term, power drain for example), and knowing how to use the maps to cover yourself then it will feel like a whole new game.

sports games are very creative. Especially if you play them realistically and not just "to beat the game". For example, the option is too easy to run in every single football game I have ever played, the computer just cant handle the randomness I guess (although this has gotten better each year). So I never use the option if the team I am using doesn't use it in real life. It makes the game harder, but it forces you to be creative and figure out how to use that team's actual offense. If you just flat out cared about beating the computer every time then you could just run option after option, but I agree that it would be very boring.

This thread is a joke, but I'll humor the OP.I used to be a hardcore PC gamer, now I only play on consoles. PCs will always have RTS, FPS, and MMOs because the KB&M is better for these kinds of games. But FPSes can easily be played on a controller, RTSes are getting there (We'll see what Halo Wars can do with the controller), and I could care less about MMOs. Overall though, I like it much better throwing in a DVD and not having to worry about resolutions, closing out my other aps, what hardware I run, latest drivers, etc, and I'd imagine most people agree with that.Just some questions for you though, do you know the exact cost of porting/developing for multiple consoles? Do you know the licensing fees for each company, including MS for Windows? Points 3 and 4 are clearly opinions (I hate the Wii controls and think they are too loose, and people can argue that you can upgrade your console with bigger HDDs) and don't spport anything conclusive.[Edited on February 21, 2008 at 3:33 PM. they should make some software that once you run it it puts your PC in gaming mode byturning off random apps, adjust resolution, and boom you've got the ease of a consoleand upgrading video cards should only be done as often as others buy consolesbesides PC's are necessary for many other things so the investment is often a good onebut why o why dont they make a KB&M for consoles?

I didn't see the other thread. To save face, I'll post in the other thread.
