what did i want to hear? like i said, when i think black history i think of the "pioneers", and the average joe black lady i work with that have opportunities they didnt have 50 years ago etc, etc, etc.... not the super successful multimillionaire black people.

genuine curiousity, like i said. wondering how people feel about the new poster children of civil rights. i don't know. just struck me as odd that most of those people were pretty young (was tiger even born then, i thought he was my age) when all that shit went down.

Would a black president mean the movement is over?
I mean if 1/2 the country thinks a black person is the most fit person to run the country wouldn't that mean that there really isn't anymore amongst the general population ? I mean sure some people will still be a few truly racist people but wouldn't it just mean that most of society isn't happy with the urban sub culture that many young people aspire to be (not just blacks but whites too) the whole urban ghetto hustler thing ?

The system intentionally weeds out the extremes.

Hip-hop culture =/= rap culture. Most true hip hop artists value education maybe not in the since of modern go to school learn what the white man says education but still some form of actual knowledge gathering .... Rap culture seems to preach hustle till you can make it as a rapper.

What i am saying is that if we get a black president wouldn't that mean that the majority of us do not judge people by the color of their skin? And what is currently being called racism is actually just judging people by their inability to dress, speak, and/or function in a civilized manner? And the racism tag comes from certain races being less inclined to conform to these "ideals".

I'm not saying conformity is correct but thats how people get judged... no one wants to hire a vampire looking white boy either.

I support this thread.

As much as Obama's Blackness shouldn't enter into the equation for voting/not voting for him, it does make a difference for society, and honestly, I think having a black president will, in all seriousness, open more doors for blacks in society if for no reason other than motivation.

That said,

if we have a back president while someone complains about how the white man runs the country and keeps their people down, that person deserves to be called a nigger.
