i was getting some sushi and blood orange soda like i do every night

i happened to be wearing one of my raleigh-wake emergency shirts

i start scanning my stuff at the self scan register

and the old black cashier lady that was stationed there goes "so you is 911?"

i say "no, i'm not 911"

her: "but dat shirt say you 911"

me: "no, 911 is a number..."

she looked at me confused and didn't say anything else

i bag my shit and pay

i walk off and tell the lady to have a good night

she said "goodnight 911!"

I miss the HT deli. Every time I go to Food Lion and try to get 3/4 lb of lunch meat it takes me about 5 minutes to explain to the lady that I want that amount. Usually she ends up saying something like, "So you want 7.5" or, "You mean .73?"
