thats not fair
2/19/2008 2:57:09 PM
yeah, unless it's changed, it's kind of a "teaser" track day...just enough to make you want to do a real one. they've been doing it for years.still, it oughta be great in terms of fun for the dollar!
2/19/2008 3:00:13 PM
prepare to only push your bike 70%unless its a real track day
2/19/2008 3:31:52 PM
meh... I think it'll still be awesome... I have always been a little scared... SO I think this is like just getting my toes wet... and I am sure I'll do more if I like :-)
2/19/2008 3:34:43 PM
As duke mentioned, they've been doing that for a while. You have to sign up early on because their slots only allow something like 20 people. At least for VIR.
2/19/2008 4:11:53 PM
the registration link is down
2/19/2008 4:21:53 PM
Its definitely a teaser..... I ride with all the groups at VIR, and once in a while we give up 10minutes so these freebies can be done
2/19/2008 8:09:15 PM
ehh, well you get my drift.what i was trying to say is that you arent gonna push it 100%, i forgot that she doesnt have any track experience. if she did, then compared to a real track day its like 3/4 the thrill.
2/19/2008 10:14:41 PM
I get your drift...... she just always sounds like some "im all that" whiny squid once she gets on the track and her asshole puckers up when someone passes her on the strait at 160+ all that bullshit street talk will cease.all shit talking aside, im glad she's has the nuts to go to the track. The beginner bikes dont have to be prepped like the rest of ours, but be prepared to spend alot on full gear
2/19/2008 11:12:47 PM
im sure on a track day you have a lot of wipe outs, im curious if there are a lot on lapping days of people just trying to sneak in a little action and lose it.
2/20/2008 8:32:21 AM
you peephole
2/20/2008 10:00:42 AM
i need to get a trailer for the bike.
2/20/2008 2:32:35 PM
^^^^when's your next race? i forgot. i'm going to try to come with ya. we'll even share a gloryhole.

^^i know you swore off street riding...you think you might ever start doing track riding if/when your leg recovers enough to allow it?^ sure...i think what he's saying is that you likely aren't anywhere near to as close to your bike's limits as you think you are....and speaking as someone who learned the hard, expensive way, you don't want to be near the limits on the street.i've hung 35-mph posted turns at 105-110 with footpegs grinding themselves down to a point...and even if you're getting it ALL the way leaned over (my buddy r1pimpin has been known to drag a stock R1 exhaust canister)--which frankly is too far for almost all scenarios on the street--that STILL doesn't mean you're riding the bike to anywhere near the limit (i.e., there's more to being fast than big lean angles, although that's a start).[Edited on February 21, 2008 at 1:30 AM. 2/21/2008 1:28:44 AM
yeah, full gear is something people should strongly consider even if they don't track.
2/21/2008 1:30:52 AM
Do you ever get that feeling when the weather warms up that you wanna go out of control on your bike or is that just me?
2/21/2008 1:32:52 AM
2/21/2008 2:20:35 AM
cool, good to hear
2/21/2008 2:44:22 AM
from reading squirt's response, i get the strange feeling that a hard crash is in store for her.
2/21/2008 8:56:28 AM
its not if you go down, its when.
2/21/2008 9:01:30 AM
yeah, we know. and i don't wish it upon her or anybody but it sounds like hers is real close.

well I found out that I needed to reanalyze my data... and I am having other problems with my program... I have a definite date for my defense finally... March 26th
2/21/2008 11:13:12 AM

thats the hard part.is trying to apply what you know on track to the streets. it can get dangerous.
2/21/2008 1:10:07 PM
sweet, just got permission to take pictures for club and track days at VIR, so I will be at VIR a lot more this season. I really want to get some sweet pics of the Ferrari club.

have you ever reached speeds of 100+ ?- If you have, you're prolly feeling invincible (which is not a good idea) or you're riding at a speed you're comfortable with and realize that a fuck up and you're fucked up. - If you haven't, then refer to my other posts about a putzy cruiser. Sportbikes are made for speed and are made for the trackIts being responsible with that speedI'll be getting on a plane in a week that will go 500+ mph and one fuck up means I will absolutely die. Those individuals are trained to be responsible with that speed... [Edited on February 21, 2008 at 3:04 PM. Reason : asdf]

^^thats why they made legal places to push your car/bike to the limit and not get in trouble by the law and most likely not injure others or yourself that much
2/21/2008 2:59:46 PM
^^Not on a bike, I've never riden a bike. I've heard the insanely awesomeness described many many times...but yes, I have wrecked doing 100+ (well lost control at 100+ actual wreck was going into a curb backwards at 70ish) prior to that I did 100 pretty much every day on the same road (remote 4 lane industrial rode with no traffic ever)... I walked away... 1 month later in the rental car I was driving to work and some lady merged into my lane and ran me off the road at 70Mph in highway traffic. I fishtailed, recovered fishtailed, recovered, fishtailed didn't recover ran head first into a gaurdrail bounced back into traffic and manage to not get hit somebody (I believe in God, take it for what you will) walked away from that one, but that one wasn't my fault and after that it took me several months before I was really comfortable behind the wheel again.^ exactly, if I didn't already have an expensive hobby(wakeboarding) I would probably look into track racing. I love driving, really really enjoy it... and I'm not saying anybody doesn't have skills or guts... I just know what overconfidence and trying too much too soon(when going outa control) will get you...

2/21/2008 3:22:49 PM
^^ no, I said it was in an industrial complex, BUT it was dumb, and it was something a stupid 16y/o ho would have done... YOU made the statement
2/21/2008 3:26:19 PM
2/21/2008 3:33:13 PM
well, regardless no hard feelings and I hope you have fun on the track...(I've gotten so used to firefox's spell checking that using I.e kills me... rode... heh talk about 16yo ho)
2/21/2008 3:36:07 PM
it's cool to talk shit on message forums about riding fast speeds on public roads, running from cops, and not being afraid of wrecking.......until you have actually experienced the TRUE negative affects of each.some bruises and a speeding ticket here and there do not count.that's bullshit that you are prepared to die.no one should ever say that. especially over a dumb fucking motorcycle. tell ur family that and see if they dont try to check u into dorthea dix.it's really good to hear that you are going to ride bikes again BigBlueRam, when and if u go stunting let me join yah.[Edited on February 21, 2008 at 3:42 PM. ^ whoa there... if your talking to me... I don't want to die, in my simple view: I'm not afraid of dying. I much more afraid of pain and longterm suffering. I nearly died 2x's last year and the thought of me checking out didn't scare me nearly as much as inconviencing everyone around me for the rest of a misserable life.I got really lucky, realize that I got really lucky, and don't plan on trying that luck anymore. I think it would be awesome to get some track time, but that's the only place those speeds belong.I'm not talking shit, and I am pointing out negative effects are real and happen from doing shit like this. Both that overconfidence is your worst enemy and that shit happens even when your doing the right thing and it's completely out of your control...should be mentioned also, that I do FULLY realize how bad it would suck for those that do care about me if I were to die... but they all know I'd be alright on the other side...[Edited on February 21, 2008 at 3:57 PM. Reason : I do care tremendously about the people that care about me]
2/21/2008 3:55:39 PM
not talkin to u man.
2/21/2008 4:16:08 PM
