The first one sucks. The rest are alright.
2/19/2008 11:08:36 AM
you dont like the color, or what?i think it's pretty dope. I'd rather get it done in a dark blue or something, though.
2/19/2008 11:18:28 AM
I love bright colors. I painted one room this color and people tend to either love it or ask, "WTF were you thinking?"
2/19/2008 11:19:49 AM
Thats like a Charlotte Hornets colorI like it in small doses but I couldn't handle a whole room of it
2/19/2008 11:22:28 AM
i was just about to suggest a larry johnson fat head
2/19/2008 11:23:16 AM
To me? I don't even know who that is, nor did I associate the color with any sports teams.
2/19/2008 11:24:36 AM
we should be so lucky...more and more subdivisions don't even change color/shape anymore

I, too, like modern architectural and interior design. You have to take care in making sure that the design doesn't appear cold, though. You might like this magazine:http://www.dwell.com/daily/magazine

i know no one else watches HGTV. but they just did a countdown on sunday of the coolest kitchens (or something like that). it was AMAZING. they even had a green kitchen...yayyyy. all the stuff was so so cool. but ofcourse all the people lived in like 8000 sq ft houses and their kitchens were like 1500sq ft (not a joke). maybe it is on the hgtv website (if that even exists). if you like interior design i'd watch hgtv...it is so addicting. some of the stuff isn't that cool (overly thematic, etc), but some of it is cool. and they have some cool tips for redecorating on the cheap (w/o looking cheap)

so do you think those badass looking rooms in the OP will look cheesy in 20 years, like "70's" style houses do now?
2/19/2008 1:51:21 PM
^^^Wasn't that second house in The Big Lebowski?
2/19/2008 1:58:43 PM
^^ There are some houses and interior design created in the 60s that have stood the test of time IMO. "^^^Wasn't that second house in The Big Lebowski?"Yes, the architect was John Lautner, whom I love. It's the Goldstein-Sheats residence, which is one of my favorites. If I ever get around to finishing my living room and doing my kitchen I'll post pics. The living room is close. Nice sofa. Blonde maple floors (ok...they're laminates, but they look good.) Walnut credenza and end tables on chrome legs (Florence Knoll design.) Light blue walls with a little gray tint. Brushed nickel accessories (floor vents, curtain rods, etc.)The kitchen is going to be a ton of work though. The floors are down. The orange linoleum counters and wallpaper have to go. Probably replacing the counters with copper and a butcher block top on the island. Planning a distressed black finish on the existing cabinets. I have a stainless stove and microwave/hood, but I have to cut the cabinets for the new stove to fit because my previous stove was a drop-in model. Add a new dishwasher and refrigerator and it should be about right.
