Great thread! Too bad you couldn't have taken your lips off of your cum-filled straw long enough to type his name.

"Minnesota finished last nationally in Division I-A in total defense, allowing a school-record 6,224 yards -- nearly 520 per game. The Gophers ranked 103rd or worse in seven major defensive categories. "

Take a look at Withers' resume up until last year. There's a reason he was such a highly-paid DC. He had absolutely no talent to work with at Minnesota.
2/18/2008 1:23:56 PM
Butch Davis had absolutely no talent with the Browns too right?

He'll probably teach / coach / emphasize defense as much as Roy Williams

Botch Davis will finally show how he is a mediocre gameday coach. Granted he is a great recruiter, but he can't manage a staff worth a damn.

Bitch Davis is starting to turn into Chuck Amato part 2. Good, arguably great recruiter? CheckQuestionable game-day coaching abilities? CheckLame excuses for losses? CheckHigh rate of staff turnover? So far, CheckI hope he keeps this shit up. I'll be laughing harder than a Carolina fan laughs at NC State basketball.

I admit i haven't looked closely at his resume (aside from the titans) ... but I don't see what's so incredibly great about it. Titans DB coach for six years? IIRC those teams had a combined two playoff wins in that six year period. Funny their defense turned into a powerhouse this past season (his first season not there). He may potentially be an incredible hire ... but anyone who coordinates the worst defense IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY has a lot to prove[Edited on February 18, 2008 at 4:25 PM. And let's not forget that Minnesota plays in the Big Ten with all those high powered offenses.

lets also not forget that we hired the Kentucky defensive coordinator, whose defense was something like #117/119 nationally.so, i guess they are keeping on par with us.

^umm...Archer's defense in his final year at UK was a lot better than that. It was a fairly dramatic improvement iirc considering UK was about to feel the full effects of probation when the Rich Brooks regime took over.

^^ Yeah and Archer's defense was also playing against SEC offenses that live to score as opposed to Big Ten offenses that live to hold onto the ball and grind down their opponents.
