I realize that almost no one gives a shit about my school and that's fine...but our game yesterday was by the most pathetic display of officials officiating I have ever seen....this isn't even about my school, this is about refs CLEARLY being on the take and yesterday they were just too obvious and if you want proof....here's a collection of the calls made at yesterdays game: Keep in mind some of these refs will probably be officiating in the Tournament

the first stanford block was a block only..sounds like a bit whining, there were about 2-3 bad calls that game, just the one of them was in the most crucial time of the game

That 10 minute video is pretty much all video of the refs not calling OBVIOUS fouls on Stanford and calling BULLSHIT fouls on us.

Worse is that they weren't even REMOTELY consistent from one half to the next, like night and day.

Whatever, you guys don't care about the integrity of college basketball I understand. I just hope these guys are officiating any of NCSUs games.

ACC refs are no better

[Edited on February 17, 2008 at 9:40 PM. Reason : i could make a 10 minute video from just about every ACC game]

I just have to say as an intramural basketball referee that basketball is by far the hardest sport to call well. There WILL be multiple bad calls each game. It's impossible to call a perfect game. The best you can hope to do is call it consistently for each side.

even the announcers couldn't believe how awful the officiating was.

Sometimes it REALLY IS the officials....This is one of those times.

did you guys watch the video? Cause there is 10 minutes of bad calls....Horrible calls. I actually would like someone to watch and explain to me how this was 'fair' by any stretch of the imagination because I've been FUMING about this for a day now and I'd love to let it go.

Yea, especially that Bob Knight guy, he complains about officiating, and how overweight they are. What a loser, he and his 3 national titles and owner of the last undefeated team. That Phil Jackson guy in the NBA has been fined a few times for complaining about officiating, I don't htink he won anything either, as a player or as a coach.

Bad calls happen. Until the invent robots that can do a better job than us it's just going to be a part of the game.

The worst call was coming to an ACC school's message board not named d00k to bitch about it. I don't feel bad for you.

[Edited on February 17, 2008 at 10:23 PM. Reason : of course d00k was just the victim of some good officiating tonight w00t. ]

Do you really just use the internet to argue and talk shit to anyone and everyone who will listen? Way to give ME shit....a person who doesn't go to NCSU and yet ALWAYS supports them when they play.

Nobody is saying fuck Arizona, we're saying we don't feel bad for you because this shit happens all the time over here in ACC land. Replace Stanford with d00k and we wouldnt know the difference.

I didn't put that highlight reel together and to be honest with you, the first few minutes and in fact the first half was actually officiated quite well with the refs allowing us to play. However, the second half, AS HOWARD EVEN HAS NOTED, is utter and complete bullshit

I'm not sure about the whole game but outcome was pretty much decided on a bad call, like that georgetown garbage so it is kind of an issue

For fucks sake.....I'm simply pointing out that a person, who has NO CONNECTION to either team, can be objective about something. Clearly the majority of you didn't watch the video and that's fine, but don't go making comments about it like you have. Jesus Christ I'm so fucking over you people.

I hope you didn't take my comments as insulting. I was simply trying to add my $.02 (lol) based on my experience as a basketball referee. It's an extremely hard sport to call even at the level I do it at so it's kind of hard for me to get really mad if they call a bad game in college or the NBA. Even if it's a horrible game. Part of the reason the refs have to look like dickheads too is just because if they lose any bit of confidence in the calls they make they're going to lose control of the game and then they have to start dishing out technicals which is going to have even more impact on the game. It happens and it will continue to happen. The thing is, when there's a bad game, it's usually going to be fairly even with the bad calls so hopefully that evens it out a bit, but the team that remembers the bad calls will always be the team that loses.

Refs hardly ever win or lose the game for a team. It's usually just a crutch for the loser to use as an excuse. And I really hope you don't take my comments as insulting (since I've already declared I think you're a pretty cool broad).

basketball is a tough sport to officiate. So many of the calls or no-calls are subjective while football and baseball are generall all objective calls that are based on eye sight. Basketball calls like fouls (was there contact? enough to call or incidental? did the defender beat him to the spot?), charging and even palming violations are all "decisions" that refs have to make.

calling a basketball game would be like calling a jumpball situation to randy moss (pass interference) every second of ever play

except there's like 3 different jumpballs situations you have to be looking for at the same time.

well Mr. Ref, this is blatantly incorrect. You would know this if you have watched a couple of fucking ACC games this year.

I'm not saying that they intentionally (that's something that NOBODY will EVER find out)are calling the games in one teams favor, but some of their bad calls have won and lost games for several teams this year.

The Refs have been bad this tournament. The Xavier/Georgia game was awful. To be fair, basketball is probably one of the toughest sports to call as an official...but it's not like the game has changed that much within the last 5 years.
