Terrible trade for the Mavericks. I can't believe they'd actually give up Harris and Diop for Kidd.Kidd isn't good in a halfcourt offense, he's effective on a running team which Dallas certainly is not.Kidd also can't guard quick point guards which makes him a liability against Nash, Baron, Paul, & Parker. They even gave up two first round picks as well. What the hell are these teams doing? Everyone is panicking because the Lakers pulled off a good deal for Gasol.
2/13/2008 4:13:46 PM
que the Denver trade for Artest in 5,4,3,2...
2/13/2008 4:17:53 PM
I don't mind giving up Diop or even a couple draft picks...but Harris is a solid young PG...much younger than Kiddlooks like Phoenix and Dallas are like "WELL WE BETTER WIN THIS YEAR"meanwhile the Lakers are like "well lets try to win one over the next few seasons"]

2/13/2008 4:20:07 PM
Kevin Garnett to the Rockets!Dwight Howard to the Warriors!Lebron to the Spurs!WHERE DOES IT END?!
2/13/2008 4:24:39 PM
its gonna be kind of funny when the Spurs come out of the West again
2/13/2008 4:27:15 PM
Lakers have the longest championship 'window' of the big dogs out westObviously younger teams like New Orleans and Portland could be as good or better than them in a couple yearsBut with the Lakers, their oldest player is Kobe at 29 and everyone else is in their mid or lower twentiesBynum is probably younger than most people on this message board; he doesn't turn 21 til the fallThe Old Guard out West...the triumpvirate of Phoenix, Dallas, and San Antonio...probly each only have a few years leftand Dallas just shortened their window significantly
2/13/2008 4:29:45 PM
Phoenix is still in pretty damn good shape. Its pretty easy to acquire a good PG when Nash drops off and they have a foundation of Stoud, Diaw, and Barbosa to build around.
2/13/2008 4:39:23 PM
2/13/2008 4:43:22 PM
I wouldnt say its pretty easy to acquire a good point guard...theres only probably about 6-7 really good ones in the whole leagueThey do have a good core with the 3 players you mentioned, but they will probably see some dropoff when Nash retires or his play begans to decline due to ageThe point guard governs their style of play...when Nash misses a few weeks, they really struggle
2/13/2008 4:50:08 PM
Barbosa is their current backup PG although he plays plenty of late game minutes at the 2 or 3, depending on who is hotI wonder if/when Nash retires if they'd try to let Leandro be their PG, or bring in more of a pure distributorbtw look at these two douchebags]
2/13/2008 4:57:44 PM
srsly, nelson and dirk are douchebags
2/13/2008 5:02:57 PM
imagine if Nash had stayed all along...might already have a titlecourse they'd be matching up with the Shaq/Kobe Lakers still, who would probably eek out a win over the Marbury/Garnett T-Wolvesall just to beat the Vince/T-Mac Raptors in the NBA Finals
2/13/2008 5:04:07 PM
Yeah they brought in Banks to be their backup and he was a bust from day 1I think in that system you need a pure distributor and I'm not sure Barbosa fits that billBut they will always be relevant with that core...maybe not competing for the championship every year but they shouldn't fall any farther than 5-6 in the WestBut no one knows...In 4 years the Twolves, Sonics and Grizzlies could be the new big three out West
2/13/2008 5:04:45 PM
behind the odenblazers of course
2/13/2008 5:06:09 PM
Oden/Roy/Aldridge Blazers, Jefferson/Brewer/Mayo Wolves, Gay/Beasley/Conley Grizzlies, and Durant/Green/Rose SonicsIntroducing your Western Conference semifinalists in 2012
2/13/2008 5:10:45 PM
This trade really does not make sense to me. I don't see Kidd being worth all of that. I just do not get it...seems like the Mavs gave up way too much. III
2/13/2008 5:46:47 PM
I can't believe how much the Mavs are giving up. Great trade for the Nets as they start building for the future and set up salary cap space.Hope that Kidd leads Cuban to the promise land this year otherwise this trade is as bad as the Shaq deal.
2/13/2008 5:48:30 PM
^^^ who are the heat taking in the draft?
2/13/2008 6:14:15 PM
i figure the blazers will send roy and get the 1st pick (after finishing 9th in the west) and get beasley
2/13/2008 6:19:39 PM
^not gonna happen, they arent trading their team leader...not to mention they need veteran depth, not more young players
2/13/2008 7:48:51 PM
i sure hope the blazers don't draft the next kris humphries[Edited on February 13, 2008 at 8:07 PM. Reason : lololllololoolool]
2/13/2008 8:06:08 PM
trade has been blocked by Devean George
2/13/2008 9:40:28 PM
this myth has been busted.
2/13/2008 9:56:40 PM
apparently Devean is smarter than the Dallas GM.
2/13/2008 10:03:11 PM
THE MVP HAS BEEN TAINTED
2/13/2008 10:08:41 PM
i mean, it seems like teams would want to build so they have opportunities for MULTIPLE titles, like the spurs and lakers, not blow their wad for a chance at ONE and then be completely irrelevant two years later
2/13/2008 10:30:49 PM
Well Dallas easily could be at the end of a few year title run, and instead they have blown it in the playoffs several times. Their window is closing, which means try to win now or be irrelevant in a few years anyway.
2/14/2008 8:37:06 AM
to tell you the truth Devin Harris isnt too far behind Jason Kidd right now. The Mavs still have a fairly young core of players (Dirk, Howard, Terry, Harris), so they have a chance to be good for a while
2/14/2008 8:45:37 AM
2/14/2008 11:19:16 AM
stupid trade for the Mavsthe Nets gonna get $texas for this
2/14/2008 11:58:54 AM
^^ well then you cannot grasp the basic rules of communication
2/14/2008 12:08:36 PM
i'm not the one who had trouble understanding what i saidany NBA fan knows the Blazers sent Roy to the lottery last year and got the first pick which they used on Oden]
2/14/2008 12:14:58 PM
2/14/2008 1:17:48 PM
haha dumbass Jerry Stackhouse could fuck up the whole thing by admitting there was a prearranged agreement for him to bought out by the Nets and come back to Dallas in 30 days
2/15/2008 11:31:11 AM
2/15/2008 11:36:59 AM
rumor has it the trade is back on, with the nets taking trenton hassell & the contract of keith van horn instead of stack & georgethe nets will still get harris, diop, ager, 2 first rounders, & cash & the mavs will get malik allen w/ kidd
2/17/2008 7:25:26 PM
it is still a terrible, terrible trade for the MavsI dont even know if I would give two first rounders for Kidd, let alone throw in the rest of the players
2/17/2008 7:38:27 PM
i thought after the george holdup, and everybody talking about it, the mavs would come to their senses about it not being a great trade...o well, maybe they know something I don't, but this just looks stupid as hell from the mav's perspective
