"By the moons of Tatooine! I'm a card-carrying member of the Boba Fett Fan Club, but does anyone else wish that George Lucas would make a movie set in a galaxy far, far away from Star Wars? Not Lucas himself, apparently. Remember that animated Star Wars series about the Clone Wars? Well, it seems that Uncle George liked the results so much that he's ordered up a full-on theatrical release for a new Clone Wars animated film that will kick off a new series. "I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," says Lucas, executive producer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which will premiere on the Cartoon Network in the fall. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation." (Start telling?)

The new film, which takes place between the events of Episodes II and III (before Anakin becomes Darth), will hit theaters on Aug. 15. And I'll probably be there on opening night. Sigh. — Mickey O'Connor"

it's all cgi

Just when you thought that Star Wars couldn't be milked anymore.

the Clone Wars cartoon was decent

the only problem is that George didn't have an active role in that

whereas with this he apparently does

Oh, yeah, that was unclearly written.

I meant that the problem with the new series will be George's involvement.

I'm okay with the idea, however I do not like the art style in that trailer. They should just do more Clone Wars cartoons.

I guess I was the only one that didn't think the Clone War cartoons were any good. Just a series of quick action scenes in rapid succession.

Star Wars movies are completely played out and I'd like to think that I have some self control. The only way I'd check this out is if it were a video game, not a movie.

The only way I could be convinced to buy anything anymore star wars related is if they sold the original dvd trilogy without the god awful updated cgi parts.

They did indeed, except the film for each is no more than a reproduction of the laserdiscs from the 80's. Visual quality is quite poor.

What they need to do is release the THX version of the original on DVD. That way they are cleaned up with better sound. I'd buy those in a second.

According to that site, the movie will just be 3 or 4 of the TV episodes stitched together so, I'm not as impressed. I'll probably just DVR the series and watch them.
