I don't.

he's so well spoken

I don't dislike him personally. I don't like some of the media coverage of his campaign. Gloria Steinem said it best...."What worries me is that reporters ignore Mr. Obama’s dependence on the old — for instance, the frequent campaign comparisons to John F. Kennedy — while not challenging the slander that her progressive policies are part of the Washington status quo."

You sound like a whinny Clinton supporter. Go and cry over the Potomac Primaries.
2/12/2008 7:24:51 PM
Whatever dude. We get it. Yes you can.

haha, I just have so many opportunities from this country. I dont want to see us fall backwards.

^^^^^ People are comparing him to JFK because he's a young, good-looking politician who is bringing change to Washington. That has nothing to do with his policies being old. That's the dumbest criticism I've ever heard.[Edited on February 12, 2008 at 7:32 PM. Reason : ]

It's from Gloria Steinem. She is a huge feminazi and Clinton supporter.

If tww was my only barometer I'd say that people don't like him because:1) He can carry himself well when speaking in public2) His supporters "will believe anything"3) His supporters don't know his platform4) His supporters are stupid because they don't support my candidateThat about covers the t dub perspective.

"ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."Far cry from todays democratic party. Please stop with the JFK comparisons.I think he is a great speaker, but just says what people want to hear. A typical politician. He gives no plans on how to fund the massive increases in spending he proposes. Free this and that, will only get him so far. Eventually someone will ask him some real questions.I hate the idea of taking money from people bc "they dont need it"(his words). And capping profits on drug companies who "make thier profits off the backs of our seniors who need those drugs." Who is he to decide who should be able to keep thier OWN MONEY? Socialism and classwarfare at its finest. The irony is that the dems bashed the media over the hype leading to the iraq war and not asking questions.

He had the most liberal voting record in congress last year. That worries me.
2/12/2008 8:29:10 PM
i dont like him because he reminds me of Hitler, or any other charismatic populist dictator. He speaks only on emotional responses and has very little substance. he pulls on the heartstrings of the ignorant using feel good concepts like "change" or "yes we can" rather than substance. He is the most liberal member of the Senate by many accounts and he is a socialist. That is why dont like him.Every liberal, including Obama, thinks the wealthy are rich because they are "fortunate". Never do you hear them say a wealthy person is wealthy because of their own hard work. When you play class warfare, its easier to make people feel good about stealing when you tell them the enemy has more money than you because he was lucky as opposed to a hard worker. ^^ Are you a woman? Emotion is so overrated. I remember people saying the same thing about Clinton, because "he cares." You sound like the person that PT Barnum so accurately described when he said a sucker is born every minute...

to be fair, i think too many people vote based on bull shit. i mean if all it takes is charisma and the pretty spoken word to make you swoon for a candidate, then you are an idiot and shouldn't be voting. this extends both ways, im not signaling any party or people out. all i am saying is that more people should vote based on educated knowledge of the country, policies, issues, history and the candidate's views proposals and record etc. too many people vote based on absolutely nothing, or because they think they are supposed to, and it goes against an educated voting public republic that was intended. if you vote for someone then I support your right 100 percent to do so, i just wish more people had real reasons why they voted for someone.
2/13/2008 12:06:59 AM
I agree to a certain extent......but I am educated on his policies because he has impressed me so much that it motivated me to seek them out, research them, find out what he's all about. And dude, I like what I see on paper just as much as the character and consistency he has shown in all this wonderful oration. To me that charisma and spoken word aren't to be taken lightly, they spark curiosity - or should. I suggest that to anyone that likes Obama for these reasons they should all do their due diligence and follow-up. I don't see what's wrong with this line of thinking..[Edited on February 13, 2008 at 12:12 AM. Reason : ]

i wasnt talking about you specifically. if a person can logically and rationally form an educated reason to support someone or something than i respect that even if i disagree. too many people know more about brittney spears or American idol than American politics.[Edited on February 13, 2008 at 12:15 AM. ^then why not treat everyone equal? Have a fed sales tax, or have a flat tax. Where everyone pays the same percentage. The majority of people want something for nothing, and this is who he appeals to. The productive hear the cash register sound going off in our heads everytime he opens his mouth with some other new "policy".

Why punish success? I think it all boils down to jealousy. There's nothing wrong with a safety net but at the same time we shouldn't create a nanny state that overburdens those who have been the most successful and otherwise attempts to punish those who have worked hard to get where they are in life, like small business owners who put in 80 hours plus a week or doctors who put their lives on hold for years just to be able to get to where they are today.

i don't 100% trust himbut I like him better than McCain. There's something to be said for being a liberal and admitting, versus this whole "OMG I'M A CONSERVATIVE" thing McCain is doing.I'm a lifelong conservative republican, but I'm strongly considering voting for Obama.

I don't dislike Obama as a person. I dislike his policies because I don't believe they will work (see previous threads).I also dislike most the people that support him. I have spoke to maybe 30 people that support Barack (not including arguments on this board) and not a single damn one of them know fuck all about the issues. They are only voting for him because he is a nice guy that speaks really well. I also dislike the way the press favors him so clearly. I mean fuck, Lee Cowen of MSNBC was saying it was hard to be objective because Obama is so inspiring. I mean, this guys is a reporter!!! He's not even a member of the punditary. It's bad enough when have folks like Dowd, Rich, et al licking the man's asshole. Do we really need reporters doing it too?If Obama gets the nomination, I might end up voting for him. I don't know.
