there is no way you have seen Schindler's List or Duel (or Jaws) and can say that hasn't done great movies. It's one thing to say that you don't care for his popcorn flicks or some of his more preachy stuff (I think Amistad falls into this category), however, there are several movies he has done that are just simply "great".

fell asleep during schindlers list, havent seen duel, & thought jaws was good, but not greatagain, im not bashing him, as if he'd even care that one random college student feels his movies arent as good as other people do

don't even know where to start with picking my favorite, but Munich should also get a mention in this thread.[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 12:55 AM. Reason : (although I walked out thinking "being an assassin would rule"...not "violence and hatred are bad")]

we are discussing films he has directed right?some of you people are listing things that he has produced which is different entirely. The Goonies, Back to the Future, Gremlins, Transformers....all movies he was the exec. producer. These films don't really have his style and direction although they are great movies, sans transformers. as far as directing, i love almost every single one of his films. I'm reading the list and I can't find one that i didn't enjoy. I would probably say that Saving Private Ryan is my favorite of the lot though.[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 7:54 AM. Reason : add]
