...didn't see a thread on it. I am sure the Dems will win even though Easley is out but how come there is not much conversation going on about this?http://www.2008racetracker.com/page/NC-Gov?t=anonEven finding a website was hard to find....

The debates on both sides have been less than stimulating. In any event, I'm calling the win for Bev Perdue right now.

dems in the local government have fucked this state up, yet we keep voting them in
2/7/2008 10:16:42 AM
How do you figure the dems have fucked this state up? We've managed to attract many bright people, keep our school systems good and our universities excellent, all from being a primarily agricultural and textiles state full of semiliterate racists. Every day I wake up and thank God we didn't turn out like South Carolina, or even Virginia. And I have to think that's owed at least partly to them.
2/7/2008 12:32:22 PM
^^ Are you saying that Democrats at the local level--city and county--have messed up the state or that Democrats at the actual state level have?

North Carolina is actually one the lowest tax states, and has been cited among the lowest 5 for business. This is primarily because we have relatively low property taxes. This is even more true when you factor in the low assesments on rural and suburban land.

I just saw a commercial for Richard Moore followed shortly by one for Beverly Perdue which made me think about this thread.Moore's commercial said basically said Raleigh does things wrong. Beverly Perdue talked what issues she is about. If I had to go off those alone, I like hers better. She also seems to have the most qualifying experience of those that I know are running.
2/9/2008 6:22:32 PM
The only Perdue commercial that I've seen is the one where she hugs this little black kid at the very end. I guess her ad agency doesn't know that you're supposed to put stuff like that happening in the background. That way the message is subliminal and you don't have people like me seeing right through what they are trying to do.

You should watch Perdue in the debates, she is terrible. I thought I liked her until I saw her debate. Richard Moore >> Perdue.

Fred Smith
2/11/2008 1:15:51 PM
Smith has been heavily criticized by the Democratic Party, including criticisms from Jerry Meek, as being an absentee Senator, because Smith missed over 300 votes in 2007, which is over a quarter of all possible voting opportunities.
2/14/2008 4:37:43 PM
^Wasn't John Edwards pretty much of an absentee senator/professional presidential candidate?

perhaps, but we all saw how far he got with that

Pat McCrory versus Bev Perdue......do the Republicans have a chance against a woman????
5/14/2008 1:01:01 AM
Perdue will win 52-46 or 51-47.
5/14/2008 9:11:43 AM
I don't know....I really like what McCrory has to say and I am sure he would have the majority in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.....Also people are feed up with Easley and most will assume that Perdue is like Easley. Also that free Community College is a load of shit....fuck that. Most people that go to community college are the high school fuckups that couldn't cut it in real school. Does that mean people like us NCSU students should not come here and start at some shitty CC???

lot of CC people might have fucked up, but then wanted to get their shit together and go back to school and cant get in a big universitystill some others might not have had the HS grades, they could get a couple semesters of good grades at a CC, then transfer with a solid GPA on their transcriptstill others couldnt afford "real" college (^)]

Maps of Primary Results:First, the Democrats. Red is Bev Perdue, Blue is Richard Moore. Darker shade equals bigger win. Lighter shade equals smaller win.The Republicans. Blue is Pat McCrory, Red is Fred Smith. The lone yellow county is Yancey County going for Bob Orr. The pink and light blue counties mean less than 50%.
5/30/2008 10:00:08 AM
So basically the people between I-95 and I-85 voted for McCrory.....the outside parts of that are usually considered the "backwood" parts of the state.I really like what McCrory has to say....he got the NASCAR HOF for Charlotte, started the Metro light rail system, and Charlotte crime has gone down in the last few years.
5/30/2008 12:49:37 PM
is a republican competitive this year or is a dem gov probably gonna win?
5/30/2008 12:51:58 PM
^^ So you're an elitist. The North Carolina Republican Party has always been very factional based on geography. Take a look at the 2004 gubernatorial primary. Red is Richard Vinroot, blue is Patrick Ballantine, green is Bill Cobey.[Edited on May 30, 2008 at 1:49 PM. Reason : /]
