If you're going to make something up, why not add USC to the mix?
2/6/2008 10:41:18 PM
heard about this on the radio this morning...hilarious
2/6/2008 10:41:51 PM
ahahaha I knew they held a press conference but I didn't know he pulled the old "which hat do I choose" trick.... what an idiot this kids coach must have been to think this was true
2/6/2008 10:43:08 PM
feel bad for this family
2/6/2008 10:45:49 PM
i wonder if Oregon was actually recruiting him???
2/6/2008 10:56:22 PM
I feel really bad for this kid for some reason.
2/6/2008 11:01:50 PM
hahahaa, tell he didnt make this whole thing up...
2/6/2008 11:04:23 PM
oh nm, apparently he did make it up.[Edited on February 6, 2008 at 11:14 PM. Reason : that's fucked up]
2/6/2008 11:13:57 PM
A few thoughts on this : A - How bad must this kid be if he is 6-5, 290 and doesn't have an actual chance to make a d1 roster?B - How stupid is the media for showing up at the press conference for this kid?3 - This is just sad on so many levels.[Edited on February 6, 2008 at 11:20 PM. Reason : clarification]
2/6/2008 11:20:18 PM
the kid hasn't even been evaluated by scout.com.that's pretty bad. you would think his coach would know that this is bullshit.
2/6/2008 11:21:17 PM
kid should have shut his mouth and worked on his gamehe probably can't even cut it in a FCS conference
2/6/2008 11:28:27 PM
Mario Boggan committed to Florida although he was never offered. Then Herb spurned him and he went on to be a pretty good player at OSU
2/6/2008 11:56:27 PM
Maybe he thought we would pay him more
2/7/2008 1:02:03 AM
What exactly was this kid going to accomplish by doing this?
2/7/2008 2:01:41 AM
looking like a complete fool
2/7/2008 2:10:51 AM
could have gotten him laid before the story broke
2/7/2008 6:24:09 AM
wow. just wow.
2/7/2008 7:15:51 AM
the kid didn't fake it. His family hired a "consultant" who lied and said he was dealing with the offers from the two schools.the kid and his parents were only naive to the situation.
2/7/2008 9:26:54 AM
read the article, it said that he finally broke and admitted that he made it all up after the cops couldn't substantiate his claim that someone duped him

oh, damn...I take ^^^back, the kid IS an idiot.I actually felt a bit sorry for him yesterday.
2/7/2008 9:35:29 AM
false police reports are a no no.
2/7/2008 9:35:49 AM
Oh wow, I heard and read about it yesterday and felt bad for the kid and his family, yet I still thought it was suspicious that to be such a "prospect" that they had never meet the coaches or been to a visit. Now I think he is just a dumb-ass and really makes himself look like a fool. Boy, this last few months of HS is really going to be torture for him. III
2/7/2008 9:42:52 AM
how the hell did he think he was going to get away with this?
2/7/2008 9:50:01 AM
^look at the picture, he doesnt look like the brightest gem.
2/7/2008 10:02:58 AM
the guy all the way to the right knows he's lying.
2/7/2008 10:07:26 AM
^ lol i didn't see him at first.you're right, he's suspicious.
2/7/2008 10:09:54 AM
The dude looks confused at how a hat works in the first picture. He is like "Damn this thing is complicated". Not surprised that he got fooled by the "consultant".[Edited on February 7, 2008 at 12:33 PM. Reason : V douche]
2/7/2008 12:08:38 PM
someone hasn't read the thread yet
2/7/2008 12:11:26 PM
haha, it'd be awesome if someone could photoshop Fail in cursive on the Cal hat, esp. with the curl L at the end
2/7/2008 12:33:16 PM
This kid's coach should have called him out and stopped the whole fiasco before the kid made an absolute fool of himself.
2/7/2008 12:56:10 PM
id do it if i were home
2/7/2008 12:59:49 PM

2/7/2008 2:07:56 PM

2/7/2008 2:08:53 PM
once in a blue moon there's a story that's just so stupid you almost think it's fiction. This made my day
2/7/2008 2:28:19 PM
LOL ... Kid thanks his family .... Video = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwT-TYVKj3Y

2/7/2008 2:35:52 PM
^4 ahahahaahe looks scared shitless!
2/7/2008 2:48:54 PM
I've got to admit the kid looks like the stereotypical dumbass jock. I mean not even the guy that even though he's a dumbass he makes up for by being a cool person. The dude just looks like that annoying loser that only has a shot at making anything of himself b/c he can play ball (which apparently he can't even do that well enough). Also the little carefully crafted thin beard let's you know that he's one of the biggest tools in the world.I don't feel sorry for this guy, his family, or his coach. His parents should have known what's up when they didn't see letters coming in or had never talked to a coach or had an in home visit. The HS coach was stupid as well. Generally when you have a player that is being recruited you know about it and are in contact with the school's coaches that are recruiting him. You are almost like a liason between the school and the player a lot of the time. He ignored the obvious b/c all he could think of is how awesome it would be to say that you coached a Div. I prospect. The kid is all, "oh I just wanted to play division I football so bad, wah wah wah." Well hey I used to dream of playing hockey for Michigan, but that wasn't going to happen. You've got to realize that life isn't EA's NCAA Football 08 where you can go out and manipulate your world and get a college scholarship offer. You've got to face reality. The best thing the kid could have done for himself is done well in school so that an academically prestigious school like Stanford or Northwestern wanted him. He could also go the JUCO route or get a scholarship to a D-IAA school.Personally I hope the kid gets what he deserves, but he'll probably end up taking over his dad's used car business and be well off.[Edited on February 7, 2008 at 3:43 PM. 2/7/2008 4:15:42 PM

2/7/2008 4:19:26 PM
filing a false police report.
2/7/2008 4:20:39 PM
haha just made jim rome. his dream of being on espn comes true
2/7/2008 4:34:09 PM
If this kid was simply looking for free publicity he's a genius.
