My key's little ring thing that attatches the key itself to the keychain has come off and I even though I have my other key here, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to attatch it back. Anyone here have an Audi? I'm pretty sure the VW key is the same way....

unless you actually have the key, I'm assuming you'll have no idea what I'm talking about

She has an innie
2/6/2008 6:39:11 PM
yeah. the trick with that is to just shove it all the way in, even though it may feel like it doesn't fit there.

you'd have more luck (read: get a quicker answer) by searching audiworld audizine or vwvortex in the future. the keychain is the key fob and the other is usually referred to as the switchkeyblade if you're googling.

no no.......it's not the key, it's this thing:

2/6/2008 6:59:51 PM
Might wanna take a picture where we can see how it attaches!

Yeah i figured that might be what you meant as well, but mine fell off long ago and i just have a regular loop now.actually there's one on my spare keyfob. now i'm gonna go all ocd on that shit and try to swap them out...thanks alot. >.<I'm thinking you have to remove the covers like you're going to replace the battery. It should also be on that guide or link. Just google replacing audi keyfob battery if not. I have to jet, but i'll fuck with it when i get back cuz now i want the oem dongle.[Edited on February 6, 2008 at 7:03 PM. Reason : .]

^^I didn't take that pic, I just found one on the internetz and put the arrow there....I don't know how it attatches, if I did, I wouldn't have made this thread ^ I don't even know how to search for help cause I have no clue what it's calledPLEASE LET ME KNOW..... Cause I tried swapping out the one on my spare key but the way I'm doing it can't be right because I'm basically just shoving it in and I'm sure it will break[Edited on February 6, 2008 at 7:03 PM. http://silentdevelopment.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-open-seatvwaudi-key-fob-to.htmlI didn't read through this all the way, but see if it will work. (Again im not even 100% it's gonna slide in but pretty sure it's a start) really gotta head out now, running late.

replace it with a keyring you know how to operate.
2/6/2008 7:20:29 PM
OK...update. My key doesn't look quite like that one....but I took a screwdriver and got that cover off...unfortunatley that part of the cover off doesn't have anything to do with the place where the ring goes...but....after being really annoyed, I just took the screwdriver, twisted it in the place where the ring DOES go, and managed to slip the ring on. I'll let you know if I fucked up any of the mechanics of the key...let's hope not.^my OCD would not allow for such a thing[Edited on February 6, 2008 at 7:28 PM. Reason : ]

Right, but after you use the screwdriver to seperate the blade the top cover on the piece with the swivel keyhoop thing also pops off allowing you to rehook. More or less the same thing you did, surprised that it didn't pop off with that.anyway, got mine switched out as well, heh.
