"Yes, I'm aware correlation does not equal causation. The results are hilarity incarnate regardless of causality." This compares average SAT scores to college students favorite books with Facebook data.Funny even if it's not accurate.http://booksthatmakeyoudumb.virgil.gr/[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 4:07 PM. 2/5/2008 3:57:33 PM
I don't read and fit right there in the middle of those. [Edited on February 5, 2008 at 4:06 PM. Reason : SAT doesn't prove if you are smart or dumb.]
2/5/2008 4:06:02 PM
I liked Lolita, but I sure as hell didn't do that well on the SAT
2/5/2008 4:11:38 PM
I never read lolita or 100 years... and I did have an SAT score that high. But I did not do well in verbal, only in math.
2/5/2008 4:14:04 PM
wuthering heights, night, and the notebook being lumped together like that obviously implies that girls are dumb
2/5/2008 4:16:19 PM
i read the tommy chong autobiography... i felt dumber after thatslash, on the other hand (while i might dumber for reading it) is awesome
2/5/2008 4:18:47 PM
The Notebook needs to be farther left on the chart
2/5/2008 4:21:08 PM
my friend sent me this as a jokei'm actually reading it and man i feel dumb as shit
2/5/2008 4:23:15 PM
well damnation...catch 22 is one of my all-time favorites1450, bitches.
2/5/2008 4:25:09 PM
They shouldn't include books you were forced to read in high school. No way Brave New World should be that low.
2/5/2008 4:26:31 PM
i got a 1560 and i've only read 4-5 books recreationally in the last 5~ yearsi see no correlation
2/5/2008 4:26:40 PM

2/5/2008 4:27:14 PM
nga i rocked a 1600 and im illiterate
2/5/2008 4:28:23 PM
what people put as books they like on facebook is not a very good way of gathering statistics
2/5/2008 4:29:31 PM
Maybe not, but it's still interesting.

2/5/2008 5:44:35 PM
2/5/2008 7:17:01 PM
My score would be off the upper end of that scaleand I think Atlas Shrugged should be lower
2/5/2008 7:21:28 PM
what the fuck is Wuthering Heights doing in the 1000 range, I wonderI love that book and it's not an easy, 1000 SAT sort of read
2/5/2008 7:31:26 PM
Whatever. Flyy Girl was awsum.
2/5/2008 7:34:17 PM

^^^^it is a "mandatory read" in many high school classes though, so I imagine it's in a short list of "only reads" for a certain demographic on a related note, I found it on the shelf the other day and flipped through a few pages to see if a decade of aging hadn't changed my interpretation[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 7:43 PM. ^,^^actually, yes, that would account for itI like how Lolita is at the top...you have to be really smart to view pedophilia with an open mind[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 8:00 PM. Reason : /]

All the "erotic" books should also go under African American. I've never read any of Zane. I just remember seeing that section in the store for the first time and getting really pissed off cause that was my business idea. I was gonna make billions of dollars running a Harlequin-type line of books for black women. My sister and I came up with the plan like ten years ago.And my favorite book and quite possibly the only book on that list that I'd ever put on Facebook is Their Eyes Were Watching God, and that's at 955. Not bad! I'm just barely off that scale so I can't really match myself up, but I can say I've never read Lolita, 100 Years, or C/P. I did read Freakonomics though, which pretty much cements my status as a sheep.[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 8:00 PM. Reason : Fuck italics.]
2/5/2008 7:59:43 PM
so how about the favorite book of people that did over 1400?guess those fucks don't read or exist on facebook
2/5/2008 8:01:03 PM
^AHABut seriously, they used the college's average SAT scores, and none of the colleges had an average that high.(Some of the colleges did have averages that high, but the books weren't liked uniquely enough by those colleges to appear that high on the scale. And if there were books liked uniquely by those schools, then they probably wouldn't be popular enough to appear in the top 100.)[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 8:28 PM. Reason : I looked again,]
2/5/2008 8:02:42 PM
Catch 22, 1300how are books as widely read as the bible and harry potter so narrow?
2/5/2008 8:07:10 PM

2/5/2008 8:18:58 PM
I didn't need a chart to tell me that people who list the Bible as one of their favorite "books" aren't typically very smart
2/5/2008 8:40:07 PM
^!
2/5/2008 8:42:55 PM
I'm suprised it is listed that high.
2/5/2008 8:43:23 PM
i just think it's funny that reading the bible makes you "dumber" than not reading at all... [Edited on February 5, 2008 at 9:00 PM. Reason : i'm a fuckin' tard]

2/5/2008 8:48:11 PM

2/5/2008 8:52:49 PM
im illiterate and i got a 1480given, i got a 800 on math.. so my reading score was average.

2/5/2008 8:55:38 PM
