I just heard about these, and I have to say that I rather like the idea.http://chatham.ces.ncsu.edu/growingsmallfarms/There's one near where I live, in Garner, so my bf and I may join. Part of my hope is that with new vegetables coming to us, my cooking repertoire will expand. We would probably still keep our garden, but maybe grow different stuff (like devote more ground to strawberries).

I've been looking into a few programs for the last two years, and I've considered making this thread a few times. But since I'm the only one in my house who eats vegetables, I think it might be too much for me to sign up for. This may be the year I go for it, though. There are a bunch of programs in the Raleigh area, and they're all a little different. I know there's one that lets you choose what you get each week instead of just getting a box of whatever they give you, which would be good for anyone who's picky. I can't remember which farm that is off the top of my head, but if anyone cares I can figure it out. There's also one that charges a reduced price in exchange for a few hours of working on the farm. I imagine picking veggies, but I really don't know exactly.

^I do care! I'm picky But my bf will eat nearly anything you put in front of him (thank god...otherwise, I'd never try to cook), so if you can't find it, no big deal. If you wanna go in on one with us, that'd be fine by me. We live in Garner, and both work on campus, so getting your veggies to you would not be a big deal at all. That offer stands for anyone.

Here it is http://www.brinkleyfarms.com/csa.shtmlYou get a weekly dollar amount, and when you go to pick up your stuff you get whatever you want that equals that amount.Hmm ... I think I might join that one this year. It's not too far from me, and the packages aren't huge like they are at some of the other farms. Kind of far for you, though.

^ I was just looking at that too... they dont really describe where the pickup locations are... like where is parkwood? it does sound really cool tho.

I just go to the farmers market when I have time. I'm not on a schedule that would work well with "weekly" pickups. Some weeks I would waste food and some weeks I would come up short.[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 1:04 PM. Reason : l]

^^ I think it's a neighborhood http://www.parkwoodnc.org/.The others are all self-explanatory, I think.I do wish it offered a little more flexibility in pickup time, though.
