Last night i had one of those gold paint markers leak all over my hand.i washed it off, but when i got up this morning i realized there was still A LOT on the backside of my hand (still not sure how i missed this much)i had to scrub to get it off.but now my hand is tingling. almost like it's going to sleep. is this like ink poisoning or anything?i'm googling the warnings and whatnot right now, but i can't find anything.it was a prismacolor gold paint marker.

are there any warnings on the marker about 'NON-TOXIC' or 'TOXIC' or 'DO NOT INGEST' or anything?anything sound bad in the ingredients?
2/4/2008 12:39:59 PM
i'd scrub the rest of the paint off and wait to see if the tingling goes away. if not, start making some phone calls.
2/4/2008 12:40:37 PM
I think the "tingling" is just a result of the hard scrubbing on the nerves in her hand
2/4/2008 12:41:37 PM
let me see if i can find the marker itself...a pic i mean[Edited on February 4, 2008 at 12:42 PM. Reason : ^it's been tingling since like 9:30 this morning....]

after i work on cars i use a sponge and rub all the grease, it tingles every time i scrub because of hard scrubbing. never had it fall asleep though.oil/grease/crap is probably as bad as all that ink.its i used to get dirty on a daily basis. some swear to cancer because of oil. who knows. does cause a lot of skin probs though.
2/4/2008 12:46:07 PM
ok the only warning i see is that ttthe ink contains a "chemical known by the state of california to cause cancer"great (not too worried though)i just don't like the fact my hand is still tingling.
2/4/2008 12:48:25 PM
i think i might call a doctor.
2/4/2008 12:51:51 PM

everything causes cancer in california, you'll be fine
2/4/2008 12:52:55 PM
If I scrubbed my hand really hard for a few minutes, I'm sure my hand would tingle for a while... your nerves are pretty sensative in your hand.

didn't read the whole thread, but....my hands used to tingle if i didn't wear gloves when i was using our parts washer. maybe it was a petroleum based paint marker and it's something similar. it always went away eventually for me.

joie maybe you should quit trying to get high off the art supplies when you're drunk
2/4/2008 5:13:43 PM
If it was a DecoColor paint pen (which is the only paint pens I've ever used), then it contains xylene as the chemical solvent, which is DEFINITELY the tingling you felt. It was killing the nerves on your skin.Xylene is in most paint markers and high-end art markets as the flow solvent. It's pretty hazardous and it's not poisenous to digest, it can cause nerve damage, especially from large and prolonged exposure. So no worries, but definitely dont make a habit of it
2/4/2008 5:58:30 PM
ive found that nail polish remover works to remove a lot of crap
2/4/2008 6:01:22 PM
^Nail polish remover either uses xylene or toluene, both of which cause the same kind of nerve damage. You really shouldn't use either to clean bare skin.
