I have some old monitors and other electronic equipment. Definitly doesn't work anymore, but is there a recycle center that won't cost me 5bux to use? I don't mind donating the towers but the monitors are total crap.

You can recycle them for free at the Wake County facility in North Raleigh. It is way in north Raleigh off of Durant Rdhttp://www.wakegov.com/locations/solidwaste/nowakelandfill.htm

It looks like they'll actually pick it up curbside if you call and schedule it (assuming you're in wake county solid waste services' collection area, not an apartment that has private garbage collection).

recycle them off a bridge into the nearest river.

Harnett County still just buries them with the rest of the trash. If you know someone that lives there, it's $30/ton.[Edited on February 4, 2008 at 1:31 PM. Reason : Or hide them in your curbside trashcan and wait for the explosions in the crusher!][Edited on February 4, 2008 at 1:31 PM. Reason : implosions, technically]

as much as i would oh so love to just through them on the curb my boss may not love the idea when we get ticketed for it . I can totally handle the durant rd drive though, any excuse to get a break from the office, haha.

Good-Will should take them. They have a deal set up with some fancy monitor company that likes to take the old ones and steal parts to refurbish other ones or something along those lines.[Edited on February 4, 2008 at 6:47 PM. Reason : the monitors, at least. dunno about any other electronic crap.]
