best thing about group projects is always the prospect of getting matched up with the hot girl you wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to bwn...

If one person is doing 90% of the work in the real world

You fire the other three people and pay the one person more to do the extra 10%

I used to always be the "oh I'll just do it" guy. I'm a bit of a control-freak like that.

It's simply easier to grade and less time-consuming to present the work of three to five groups or so than fifteen to thirty individuals or however many it is. In addition, the professor can always claim some happy horseshit about "teamwork" and/or the "real world/workplace."

And if you haven't learned to work well with others by the time you've reached grad school, it probably ain't gonna happen. In any event, I loathe fucking group projects--after all, there aren't any group grades on my transcript.

Group projects are gay when you ask for help and nobody responds.

So I'm finishing the other parts of this lab report by myself.

A similar thing happened on the proposal for my senior design project (nobody in the group had ever written a proposal. They all took public speaking instead of technical writing). I basically laid out and organized the whole thing.

In some aspects, it is a control freak thing, but when you actively ask for help and don't get it...

Sometimes people's standards for quality differ. The worst is when two group members turn in two similarly important portions of an assignment. One group member did two pages, the other did one paragraph... That's gotta be what happens more often than not on these things.

fuck yeah, I am too. Then I had three massive group projects and was that guy for two of them. the third one i took a freeriding roll in and the freakin professor gave me a C in the class. I would have disputed and plead my case but i graduated a week later and left her some nasty comments on her eval. fuck it.

Freeriding is rad.

i'm always the kid sitting staring off only 60% facing the group.

group projects suck

we end up just divying up different parts to do and then compiling... not exactly group work since we meet once at the beginning and talk through emails at the end.

one of my last groups projects was with 4 others i'd probably never have hung out with in any other condition other than being randomly partnered. we got along so well we'd have weekly meetings of just bullshittery. after an hour of sitting and talking about nothing we'd call it a night.

we did pretty well in the end and everyone actually pulled their weight in that one.

I spearhead group projects but I try and include everyone in the group all the time. If someone can meet on Tuesday but not Wednesday and the other person can't meet on Wednesday, I'll meet each of them individually on separate days. I don't really care.

I'd rather do projects than homework, even group projects.

I think teachers assign group projects only so that they have less projects to grade.
