freeriding FTW
2/4/2008 12:07:59 AM
was this really necessary
2/4/2008 12:08:05 AM
suck when you have to work with ugly people...
2/4/2008 12:08:18 AM
best thing about group projects is always the prospect of getting matched up with the hot girl you wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to bwn...
2/4/2008 12:09:32 AM
/signedand NO, they don't prepare you for the real world, 'cause in the real world, your ass gets fired when you don't show up for a week.[/rant][Edited on February 4, 2008 at 12:10 AM. Reason : the /signed is for the OP in case anyone was wondering :p]
2/4/2008 12:09:58 AM
hahai actually was wondering how usefull "group projects" were in the real world but figured it probably doesn't change. Same bs
2/4/2008 12:16:59 AM
If one person is doing 90% of the work in the real worldYou fire the other three people and pay the one person more to do the extra 10%
2/4/2008 12:33:11 AM
I used to always be the "oh I'll just do it" guy. I'm a bit of a control-freak like that.
2/4/2008 12:37:29 AM
1 in 7 work out well... otherwise it's usually just one doing the heavy lifting
2/4/2008 1:24:02 AM
It's simply easier to grade and less time-consuming to present the work of three to five groups or so than fifteen to thirty individuals or however many it is. In addition, the professor can always claim some happy horseshit about "teamwork" and/or the "real world/workplace."And if you haven't learned to work well with others by the time you've reached grad school, it probably ain't gonna happen. In any event, I loathe fucking group projects--after all, there aren't any group grades on my transcript.
2/4/2008 1:36:39 AM
makes work take twice as long as it should, imo.
2/4/2008 1:37:07 AM
srly, i hate them.
2/18/2008 2:50:36 PM
i love group projects...one of the guys i was working with wanted to do it all...we all got an Agroups FTW
2/18/2008 2:52:51 PM
Group projects are gay when you ask for help and nobody responds. So I'm finishing the other parts of this lab report by myself.A similar thing happened on the proposal for my senior design project (nobody in the group had ever written a proposal. They all took public speaking instead of technical writing). I basically laid out and organized the whole thing. In some aspects, it is a control freak thing, but when you actively ask for help and don't get it...Sometimes people's standards for quality differ. The worst is when two group members turn in two similarly important portions of an assignment. One group member did two pages, the other did one paragraph... That's gotta be what happens more often than not on these things.

I love group projectsand I was never ever ever the 'oh I'll just do it" guyI'd take the zero before that happenedand I took some zeros
2/18/2008 3:21:14 PM
Freeriding is rad.i'm always the kid sitting staring off only 60% facing the group.
2/18/2008 3:21:41 PM
ha me tooIf one of my buddies or a hot girl is in the group then I'll put forth some effortbut if its three randoms then I'm just dead weight
2/18/2008 3:23:46 PM
group projects suckwe end up just divying up different parts to do and then compiling... not exactly group work since we meet once at the beginning and talk through emails at the end.
2/18/2008 3:23:51 PM
I like meeting in the libraryits the only reason I ever go in there and I'm always amazed that that's where all the hot girls hide out
2/18/2008 3:25:19 PM
u need to get out more
2/18/2008 3:28:54 PM
one of my last groups projects was with 4 others i'd probably never have hung out with in any other condition other than being randomly partnered. we got along so well we'd have weekly meetings of just bullshittery. after an hour of sitting and talking about nothing we'd call it a night. we did pretty well in the end and everyone actually pulled their weight in that one.
2/18/2008 3:29:52 PM
sup jen, we could work out a group project
2/18/2008 3:30:46 PM
Yeah i had 2 groups senior year that rocked and 1 that completely blew ass.
2/18/2008 3:31:37 PM
I spearhead group projects but I try and include everyone in the group all the time. If someone can meet on Tuesday but not Wednesday and the other person can't meet on Wednesday, I'll meet each of them individually on separate days. I don't really care.I'd rather do projects than homework, even group projects. I think teachers assign group projects only so that they have less projects to grade.
2/18/2008 3:33:29 PM
^spearhead eh? so thats what you call it....
2/18/2008 3:35:20 PM
if everyone actually tries to do work it just ends up a clusterfuckSo I usually volunteer to stay on the sideline
2/18/2008 3:35:45 PM
roflspearhead.
2/18/2008 3:39:50 PM
spearhead would totally win corporate buzzword bingo[Edited on February 18, 2008 at 3:41 PM. Reason : buzz]
2/18/2008 3:40:51 PM
i would hate it if jen was in my group probably....i can see her as being the kind of broad that thinks if shes nice and shows her t&a a little she gets a free pass to not do shit...cant stand group projects with lazy hot broads]
2/18/2008 3:46:09 PM
lazy hot broads that show their tits for a free pass are awesome, i don't want them fucking up my work anyway
2/18/2008 3:47:30 PM
^ yeah its better than an uggo not working.hot broads contribute with what they have. the ugly ones better be smart or they won't go far in life.]
