New on the pop culture scene in Japan is an upstanding young girl who eats 11 pounds of Ramen in one sitting and is apparently also a Gravure idol. Actually, the ramen incident was 10.8 lbs and apparently shattered the previous record at this particular shop by a factor of about 3.

They spent like 20 episodes before anything major in the storyline happened, but it simply wasn't worth the payoff. The series is really more about their wacky, zany, random adventures that have nothing to do with the main arc. Kind of like Cowboy Bebop.

yeah, it was detailed. And it was a strongly American-market anime. Looking back now, it rather reminds me of Afro Samurai - but a little bit less hard core.
