What we used to do is this....communicate, tell him that he needs to start picking up after himself. Give it some time, and if after a couple of days there is no change start leaving everything he leaves around (especially kitchen/food stuff) start leaving it on his bed. Trust me it will change one way or another.

Pretty soon they'll see how much you've done and how little they've done and feel bad

I used to put up with stuff like this. My new apartment is much cleaner now with my new roommate.

That pic there also isn't the worse it had ever been. At one point a bag of rotting chinese food sat underneath that table until the whole thing had turned black and the apartment smelled bad. It took an unfortunately long period of time for said roommate to realize where the problem was and to clean up his stuff.

I'm so glad I've moved beyond fast food now and have learned to cook for myself and make food at home. I don't know how the fuck I didn't die when I did that all the time.

Last week I took out 6 full trash bags and 8 grocery bags full of overwhelmingly bad smelling garbage at 1:00am -- my roomate said about 100 times he would take it out next time he went out of the house but after about a week I decided enough was enough. The worst part is that that was all kitchen garbage none of which was mine because I maintain my own small garbage can in my room. And as a female, I don't prefer to walk across the parking lot at my apartment at 1:00am by myself..... I was pretty mad

the thing i hate is that this dude just doesn't realize he has to take care of his own shit.

when i come home from classes completely starving, the last thing i want to do is wipe the counter clean from oatmeal dust and throw away american cheese wrappers before whippin up another meal.

Roommate made breakfast this morning for himself and girlfriend and before he leaves he says they need to clean up. So they proceed to put all their dishes in the sink. I guess for them a magic dish fairy washes the dishes and they just have to put them in the sink.

gross. i could photog my sink now and you will see nothing but some hand soap and some of that DAWN foam. also a sponge, and maybe a cloth

if its not clean, its rinsed and in the dishwasher. i also hit the counters and shit with clorox wipes every day. cause yeah its gross and all but if i get roaches in here i'm gonna fucking FLIP OUT. they multiply like MULTIPLICATION SYMBOLS!!!1 and you cant kill them without thousands of dollars worth of shit

and imagine the cleanup after that

fuck that, no dishes out ever. except the occasional soda can that i forget to rinse and put in the crush bag before i leave.

kitchen is always spotless here. maybe i saw an episode of dirty jobs that freaked me out too bad, but its still good practice

plus ive had too many experiences in the old days where a girl would come over and be so "ewww" that she'd clean my shit up. im a grown man fool!
