also, i thought that xp>vista as well, and after going through all the bullshit slipstreaming and making bootable cds with the right drivers for my SATA drive (that xp install doesnt have, along with like 10 other drivers for my nic and many others), i had this laptop booting xp, vista, and slackware linux.

i got rid of xp pretty quickly because i was wrong, and nothing was any faster. i noticed no performance decrease with vista (after i got it completely updated)

yeah ive been running vista ever since it came out and i've never had a problem with it... in fact, it seems faster than XP to me.

i think the reason people hate vista so much is because they're using it on older computers... if your computer has enough muscle to run vista well, it will be great..


also:

i have a copy of the en-us folder from a vista enterprise disc. if i copy this folder to the german retail ISO and edit lang.ini in the sources folder to reflect that en-us is present, will it work? :beadup:

i figured people were so against it cause you really had no choice but to use vista if you bought anything last year from a major company. when i called to ask for the individual component manufacturer websites (to get drivers) gateway immediately threatened to void my warranty if i installed XP (even though i never said i wanted to, but i guess it was obvious what i was getting at), but they never did. i sent that same computer in like a month later and they didn't mention a thing. even though they could have probably claimed that my OS setup was what killed the hard drive (although it wasnt)

thats why i didnt like vista at first, and once i tried XP without any real improvement over the setup i had in vista, i finally embraced it

i think theres a international settings thing that you can run and throw an en-us switch. (after install) which may work if you have the image. but ive never tried to WALLHACK windows so im not sure. ha ha ha

^^ ha, or you can unzip it and throw the switch i guess. when i fucked up one installation, i ended up having to take all kinds of shit all the way apart on my recovery partition and throwing it into the already installed stuff. wish i had known i could have made a dvd

i was literally booting into recover mode and moving shit from the "D" drive in the command prompt and rebooting over and over as i got shit into place. i must have been bored
