alright so i bought a 300 gig hd and recently used xxclone to copy my windows xp HE OS to a 60 gig partition on the hd. i set that partition as the primary and the other as logical (not sure if that matters). when i reboot my computer and try to load up the second OS i get an error message saying that:

put in the windows install cd and go to the command line, and run diskpart (i think it's diskpart... type help and see which commands stick out) to re-find the drives and stuff.

i wouldn't do that unless you want to lose your boot.ini altogetherchances are your rdisk or partition #'s are wrong, in fact they look wrong assuming you have the original on one hdd and the Xclone on a separate hddin the recovery console (which you'll need the CD for)run this:
BootCfg /RebuildFixboot

there's a 99.99% chance that there's nothing special in his boot.ini worth saving

I'd recommend EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

^if it's vista that looks pretty slick^^my point was if he deletes the boot.ini, or replaces it, chances are it will only find one install and he'll lose his ability to dual boot again unless he knows how to add the second install BACK to the boot.ini file.... not that it's hard or difficult, just something to consider first[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 4:42 PM.
