Predictions?
1/29/2008 8:12:19 PM
it won't show a clear nominee for either party
1/29/2008 8:13:48 PM
Ron Paul will win more than 50% of the contests
1/29/2008 8:36:12 PM
McCain will win tonight giving him the boost he needs to be the decided candidate after super tuesday.
1/29/2008 8:39:59 PM
Well, McCain and Romney may be heading for a "tie" of sorts tonight, although ties do not matter supposedly cause Florida's system is setup as a "winner take all" state in delegates. I don't know if Republicans will accept that or not. If McCain wins tonight by a significant enough margin, I think he'll get more wins than Romney. I think Super Tuesday is just too big for Romney's money to make that much of a difference everywhere. Democrats...I've learned that what I want usually loses. I have this sneaking suspicion that Hillary is going to pull it out some way, somehow.[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 8:40 PM. Reason : /]
1/29/2008 8:40:08 PM
^I dont think mccain will get the nomination. In these elections he continues to lag behind others in republican voters.Who knows, it sure is interesting.I really thought tonight would be the nail in mccain. So that goes to show you what I know.
1/29/2008 8:43:01 PM
Julie-who?
1/29/2008 8:43:31 PM
Rudy needs to drop out tonight and get behind McCain.
1/29/2008 8:45:44 PM
Super Tuesday is too close, no matter how bad Rudy does, his campaign has been more focus on super tuesday states and he will not drop out. And theres no reason for him to back this guy.
1/29/2008 8:48:09 PM
Rudy put all his eggs in Florida and they spoiled
1/29/2008 8:49:44 PM
McCain and Hillary are both winning in the majority of states on super tuesday according to the recent polls:http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Misc/Maps/Jan29-R.htmlhttp://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/Maps/Jan29.html

1/29/2008 10:29:23 PM
^^ those stats where only for like 3 states. unless i missed something.
1/29/2008 10:30:34 PM
Rudy will endorse McCain for a cabinet seat. McCain will get the nomination
1/29/2008 10:32:31 PM
Excellent. Fucking excellent!Eight very long and frequently unpleasant years spent waiting for the mistakes of 2000 to be rectified, and finally it seems like there's a decent chance. So what, then, for Giuliani? Attorney General, I guess?
1/29/2008 10:36:23 PM
grumpy, are you a republican?
1/29/2008 10:40:34 PM
No manI put "GOP" in my user name for the goddamned irony of the thingmy bumper sticker says "Hilary '08!"What're you, a mental deficient? In all seriousness, I parted ways with the Republican Party over a series of horrible mistakes on their part a few years back and became a rightwing independent. If they finally nominate McCain, I'll be back.
1/29/2008 10:44:46 PM
GOP, who do you see at McCain's VP?
1/29/2008 10:47:02 PM
I haven't the foggiest. Rudy has the relatively moderate politics but too much force of personality to be in the number 2 seat.
1/29/2008 10:51:08 PM
McCain/Liebermanbut first he has to stop doing these weak teleprompter speeches....
1/29/2008 11:04:13 PM
^^^ Huckabee or Barbour from Mississippi.Lock up the southern vote and try to keep VA and NC. (if they were to be leaning blue, however I don't know that)^ it was like he was looking right at the camera the whole time.[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 11:05 PM. Reason : scary eyes]
1/29/2008 11:05:11 PM
Id go with fred thompson.Pulls more from the "base", hes a decent speaker which could help in our shitty congress divisions, and hey people like actors
1/29/2008 11:09:11 PM
There's no way we are putting another dirty mick in the Whitehouse.Sike.I will be casting my vote in North Carolina's worthless primary for John McCain on May 6.
1/29/2008 11:11:34 PM
aha, i love The Onionhttp://www.theonion.com/content/video/mysterious_traveler_entrances(code to embed included on the page)
1/29/2008 11:16:47 PM
McCain is dominating the polls in California and has a solid lead in most other states. With the boost from Florida he'll lock up the nomination on Super Tuesday.I've got no idea what is gonna happen on the other side.
1/29/2008 11:31:23 PM
grumpy, so you are like a fat guy, nicknamed slim.I can see dems being excited about mccain getting the nomination. I dont know many republicans that support him.
1/29/2008 11:34:22 PM
There were quite a few Republicans that supported him in Florida. That primary was closed to independents and dems.
1/29/2008 11:44:41 PM
This is why old people shouldn't be allowed to vote.Gag, Mc Cain? Forget this election. I'd sooner vote Obama, at least he says he's a democrat.
1/30/2008 12:44:30 AM
Wow, all these republicans getting pissed just because McCain is sometimes willing to think about issues and compromise... and I thought most people here were smarter than a standard southern baptist.
1/30/2008 2:13:15 AM
Reaching across the political divide doesn't register with republicans. It's goes against their whole Us Versus Them, Either with us or against us, Good vs. Evil mentality the neocons drilled in their mind.
1/30/2008 2:16:07 AM
Or maybe just maybe its because McCain was against cutting taxes, for eliminating free speech before elections, and "working across party lines" means collecting an obstructionist group of 14 who stood in the way of conservative progress.Oh, but he is the conservative leader now. Whatever.
1/30/2008 2:47:36 AM
1/30/2008 5:09:44 AM
I'm surprised that the republican party is starting to embrace McCain's more liberal stance (compared to the other republicans) position on immigration.Sounds like he has some fun thoughts on war with iran too.
1/30/2008 6:47:32 AM
^everyone has seen that second video before]
1/30/2008 6:56:22 AM
point is this....if conservatives/republicans really cared, they would stop voting for huckagelical. Its a dead vote, and only empowers our liberal friend McCain to win. That said, evangelicals are known for "believing" in things that dont exist, and denying to the death... Thus McCain will win.
1/30/2008 8:43:01 AM
if romney were a christian he'd have won this shit already
1/30/2008 8:44:36 AM
1/30/2008 8:59:11 AM
I know that Rush Limbaugh claims it to be--so this may blow some of your minds--but this idea that McCain is some sort of liberal is laughable.
1/30/2008 9:08:29 AM
1/30/2008 9:08:55 AM
Laughable by liberals ?? I think most republicans consider him to be liberal.
1/30/2008 9:09:57 AM
If McCain wins the republican nomination, I guess I'll be voting for a black man with good rhetoric and zero practical solutions. Atleast he'll give good speeches.
1/30/2008 10:01:09 AM
That is if Obama wins
1/30/2008 11:36:56 AM
If its McCrypt vs Hillarious, I may have to start promoting the bloomberg run.At least we would have someone successful running our country.
1/30/2008 1:26:05 PM
While your insight is fascinating, I don't think Bloomberg would have a shot and I think he'd steal more votes from Clinton than from McCain. The only thing he has going for him is the fact that he's almost as likeable as Romney.
1/30/2008 1:28:08 PM
McCain is no moderate. He is VERY far to the right, just not on social issues. If you thought the Bush Administration was a little bit too friendly with big business, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Plus the thought of John McCain with the launch codes scares me a bit. It's a sign of how partisan things have become when someone doesn't adhere strictly to the party-line, and occasionally works on bipartisan initiatives is quick to get the moderate label. At least he was one of the few Congressional Republicans to agree torture is a bad idea...[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 1:39 PM. 1/30/2008 1:35:03 PM
Meh, you're electing a leader, not a know-it-all. I want someone who can find the best and the brightest, make an educated decision, and rally people behind that idea to achieve a goal . . . so yes, likeability, or at least respect / trust is HUGE in a Presidential candidate.
1/30/2008 1:39:39 PM
well, for a president character does matter. they are the face of the country and they also SHOULD be the chief negotiator of opposing sides in regards to important legislation. i know we haven't seen much of this recently, but it's a role that a good president should fill.
1/30/2008 1:39:47 PM
^^I wouldn't say he is less disturbing than Romney on that issue. Romney actually seems to have a better grasp of the economy and of the delicate interplay between regulation, negotiation, and markets than McCain. In fact, Romney had a decent record as governor, but I can't figure out which Romney would be the one we would see in the White House. I'm just saying that McCain gets a free pass on the "moderate" tag when he he is only less conservative on the social issues, which seems to be all the media is interested in covering/sensationalizing. I guess you can't be a real conservative if Rush doesn't love you.Honestly, he is running on his foreign policy credentials, when his war mongering when combined with his "loose cannon" damn the consequences nature and age scares the hell out of me.
